This according to OhioBobcats.com. Looking at the number of available tickets per section it looks like it's going to be a good year for attendance again. The student side of the stadium appears to only have seats available in the 2 sections on the Hocking River end. Family Pack sales have completely sold out the northeast end zone for the 2nd straight year. My question is, not counting the 6,000 tickets reserved for students, what is the actual number of season tickets sold? I am guessing between 8,000-10,000 but not sure.

Wow, I looked to check this out and there certainly aren't many seats available. Still 3+ weeks to go until the first home game too.

The rumor I've been hearing is that North Texas may be the first game in a loooong time (maybe, ever?) to sell out in advance of gameday. If so, that will be unbelievable.

I think each of the five Saturday home games could be sellouts as they all have compelling factors surrounding them:

-North Texas. Home opener, and if we beat Louisville, kiss da baby!
-Marshall. Duh.
Austin Peay. Parents weekend, and we just missed selling out the parents weekend game last year against an FCS team.
CMU. Homecoming
Miami. I'm able to confirm what the Optimist said weeks ago that the Miami-Halloween pairing created a lot of buzz on social media.

Bought my 1st ever set of season tickets (Family 4 pack) this year, even though I will probably only make it to Homecoming.

It's an awesome value. I usually make 3-4 games but always give the ones I am unable to use away

I called the ticket office Monday to change my mailing address.  I think she said they are scheduled to be mailed on Aug 23.  They hadn't arrived from the printer yet as of Monday.

I tweeted to the Ohio Ticket Sales account a few days ago and they replied tickets will be mailed Aug. 20.

This whole sellout scenario, environment, whatever you want to call it is so far removed from my OU football experience of yore that it's still mind boggling.  Even late into last year, I still half expected to drive up to Peden a half hour before a game, park wherever I want and go in and sit down.  And yet, the people keep coming.  As is often said here,It's great time to be a Bobcat.

Two major reasons - winning and the family pack.  Good team for a cheap price.  You can't beat it.

So while we continue to provide a good team at a cheap price, (this is good, get people in the door!) we need to make concessions profitable if they aren't already, or more profitable if they are.  We need efficiencies in place, more ability to handle volume and we would be more than justified in raising prices a little bit.

In addition... try finding an ATM at Peden on gameday. You can't.
Now, tell me the last time you were anywhere with a crowd that big and didn't have access to an ATM.

Good points - prices are fine we just need to be able to turn the lines quicker.  Two things would solve that issue - training and a redesign of the concession areas.  Not sure if a POS system would help but one thing to consider if it isn't already organized this way is specialty sites.  Instead of selling everything at every window, sell your core items at all windows and the special things at specific windows.

I've never really considered the ATM issue before, but that is a good point. I know that the OU Credit Union has ATM's at the top and bottom of Baker. That cannot be the closest one, is it?

I bet season tickets will end up around 6,000 if the numbers they say are true.  My guess is you can always buy season tickets if you desire.  This would be a great number for us.  It will be interesting to see if we ever do any sort of mini plan or group-on type deal in the Columbus area.  Could be a good offering.  Homecoming and one other "bad" game for $5 bucks more than the regular.  Or a Groupon for $10 tickets in Columbus to the "bad" games.  Could get some revenue and people to call for next year.

I think we are coming to a point where we need to look at prices.  It is a tough situation.  Being in our area you need to have a cheap ticket, but we still need to maximize revenue.

Fill seats, get commits, win games, increase entertainment value, charge a bit more for seats, fill seats. Repeat. Where this truly starts is a chicken or the egg conversation.

I believe that we are (for the first time) in the 'increased entertainment value' -> 'charge a bit more for seats' phase.

This is an excellent point.  There are nearly 30 years of graduating classes (roughly 1970-2000) for which OHIO FOOTBALL has no meaning..is a black hole.

But times done changed; GotFrank.

My nephews ('12 grad and a current sophomore) are lucky fellows.

The Miami game during the 3rd year of Jim Grobe was an advanced sellout. The department was scolded by the Fire Marshall for allowing to many fans into the stadium vs. Bowling Green earlier in the year. I think the attendance for that game was over 23,000 and students had to sit on the track that surrounded the field. Following that game the Fire Marshall surveyed the facility and gave the university permission for 2,000 standing room. This meant only 22,000 tickets were permitted to be sold for the Miami game and the game sold out prior to Saturday. Some people actually were taking pics of the game day ticket windows with their Sold Out signs. It was really cool to see people standing on the side walks holding up fingers for how many tickets they needed. It was very soon after that planning began on Peden expansion for phase one which was lowering field, removing track and building the hill which gave us the current 24,000 capacity with the ability to go over 25,000. I still think that we may see 26,000 this season.

Late 90's of the Grobe era was not a Black Hole.  Otherwise, I can't disagree.  Interestingly, everyone wants to toot Frank's horn all the time, and deservedly so.  How about we also give Schaus credit for a bunch of these improvements.

This is really impressive that we've been able to sustain this sort of growth in season ticket sales, especially after a 4-4 MAC record and stumble to the finish (outside of the bowl game, or course). If we can have a similar off-season of sales next year, I think you're approaching a sellout nearly every game.

In other news, we have officially made Best Fans in the MAC into a "thing"...check out the front page here: http://www.ohiobobcats.com/

Pretty neat concept. Even if "best fans in the MAC" is akin to a tallest midget contest ...

Grobe era was great but the handful of years after that were horrid.

Do not underestimate the subsequent hiring.

Let's say your criteria is: great coach capable of totally solid turnaround of moribund program located in remote area.  And, that coach stays, does not quickly move 'up to a better job.'  Oh, and that coach is pretty much hof the minute after he retires--which we hope is many, many years from now.

We may not see another hire like that anywhere across the land for decades.  We are very, very fortunate.

And it's good to see recognition of that spread through Bobcatland, from fans/alumni/students to prospective players.

I totally agree with you on that, and the commenter about McDavis.  It's a true team effort.

I hope our program can get to a point where we don't refer to 6 years of .500 ball as a great era.
