  1. Fisher, junior CB, currently suspended 2 games for off-season misdemeanor assault charge. Windham, RS Fresh. QB, locked in battled for No. 3

  2. Unnamed source claims felony drug trafficking charges levied at the pair. Ohio Athletics said both Fisher/Windham "suspended indefinitely"

  3. Breaking: Ohio University football players Larenzo Fisher (CB) and Greg Windham (QB) arrested this afternoon.

Add Sprague to the list of walk-ons earning a scholarship.

This is why we shouldn't attack other schools like Akron when their players do the same.

The dummies.

Jeesh.

They deserve their day in court, of course, but since they are charged with a felony, rather than a misdemeanor, I expect they will not play again unless and until this is resolved in their favor. The situation is particularly bad when one is already suspended for another reason. I expect he is gone.

What a distracton the opening week of the season. It's been a long time since we had anyone in trouble. If this is true, it's a real shame.

If Windham is gone, that means we have two QBs on scholarship. I sure hope that Frank is looking at a couple QBs (maybe three) for the next class or maybe even keeping an eye out for a transfer.

I don't know how it will all play out, but in addition to Tettleton and Vick, there are two walkons, Sprague and Leffingwell, and there is a QB recruit who has given a verbal, Joey Duckworth. Unfortunately Duckworth recently tore his ACL, and will miss his Senior season. I agree that at least one more QB in this class would be a good thing.

Duckworth was a 3 star though, and his injury could be a blessing for us in a way. It will keep bigger schools away from him, and if he can recover, maybe he'll be at a 4 star talent level

This cuts into the CB depth a little bit, even tho Fisher would have sat out the first two games. I feel pretty confident in the CB's and that either Brown or Stewart will step up if needed. Also, regarding Windham it seems from fall camp that Sprague had the upper hand on the 3rd QB spot anyway.

Arkley believes more arrests "might" be on the way.  Hopefully no more players.

Unfortunately I'm not surprised, when I was at Ohio they would come into my work and buy what they called "blunt wraps" (swisher sweets) but ecstasy is even more concerning. It's a bad situation but with Fisher smiling in the mug shot it's hard to feel sympathy. Hopefully Scipio and others will step up and this won't be a distraction to the team, but if it is a big distraction it's an awfully selfish move.

With just the two I don't think it'll be much of a distraction.  Fisher wouldn't have been playing this weekend anyway and Windham likely wouldn't have gotten into the game.  If other players are busted, that might make a difference tho.
We'll probably hear about it two or three times.   It might even show up on Gameday, which would really be lousy.

Agree.

I realize it is like this with all prosecutors, but this bugs the heck out of me...

What kinds of idiots announce the arrest four days before OU is on national television. The incidents took place allegedly in May and June.  What are they going to be talking about on ESPN?

Also, a shout out to the idiots at WOUB for putting the players mug shots on their website.  Every time I am tempted to donate money to public radio, they soon enough give me reason to table the thought.

Something wrong with them reporting a major on campus news story?

The Messenger put their football pictures with the story. A couple of young kids,  allegedly did something stupid. I think the mug shots are in bad taste. Just my opinion.

This is the first time I've ever heard the argument that an alleged drug trafficker didn't get a photogenic enough picture. And I've fielded every wacky newspaper reader telephone call imaginable.

I don't think there's a single publication that would do any different. If you don't want your mugshot in the paper, don't traffic drugs.

The mug shots are part of the story.

They've pleaded not guilty so we need to give them the benefit of the doubt. But with November hearing dates, they're basically done for the season, guilty or not.

.... allegedly.

No comment on this particular story, but all it takes to get  a mugshot is to look at a cop weirdly... or have down's syndrome... or say "hello" to his police dog in its native tongue.  Well, actually, the least offensive of those can get you killed by the police.

Kind of like the folks who complain about speed monitors and traffic light cameras.  if you don't want to do the time, don't commit the crime.
