He also selected teams to bowls exclusively by conference affiliation. We all know there will be conferences that won't be able to fill their allotments so that will open spots up for MAC schools. Really, all he is predicting is that Ohio won't be in the top three in the MAC.

CFN.com and Pete Fiutak did something very similar. In fact, if I remember correctly, they didn't have either Ohio or NIU going to a bowl this year. But they did have Indiana...

...the explanation was how good the teams are based on talent alone right now, as opposed to how they will finish for real. Then what's the point in even predicting?

August is a time for lazy people to make their projections based on personal biases and misinformation.  The only bowl projections that really matter are the ones at the end of the regular season.

But then Mark Schlabach puts us in the Pizza bowl against Maryland.  I'd take that.  Nothing like taking it to a future Big Ten member in the final year of a bowl that they struggle to provide teams for anyway.

That would be a decent game.....and it could help us recruiting wise....lot of good players in the D.C./Maryland area.
