What amazes me is that we can't get a more fan friendly spot to have this show.  The lobby area of an old Hardee's just doesn't cut it.  Any idea why it isn't in an uptown location like it used to be?

It's amazing with all of the Bars and Places to eat in Athens it ends up at Donato's. If I own a spot in Athens I want the exposure and Monday following.

Based on the sign at the basketball show that said no alcohol on the show...I would say this is a move from up top...

BINGO

I love the Athens Donatos. Donatos is my favorite pizza chain (although it can't touch Avalanche), and whenever my dad comes down to visit or spend the day down here we almost always end up there or Kaisers. It might be weird with all the great places to eat in Athens, but that Donatos is special to my family, so I think it's cool that Solich does his show from there

Not knocking Donatos(we need and love any sponsor who can step up!)  But if alcohol is the primary issue for the location, why not rotate a few of these shows to an on campus setting such as Baker Center or one of the dining halls?  A chance to engage/convert some students?  Note I said a few.  Still need to engage SEO population as well.

Good idea. I can't think of any reason why this couldn't be done unless Donato's is paying a ton of money for exclusivity for this. But even if they do, free pizza coupons/slices to fans that attend the show at Baker/Boyd/whatever location.

I attend every show and find it to be a "fan friendly" spot.  There is plenty of parking and the Donatos staff is friendly and happy that we are there. The radio show occupies half of the restaurant (plenty of room) and its easy to grab some food and settle back for the show. Oh, wait.....NO BOOZE!  If you can't attend these kind of events without  booze you could always go next door to the Maplewood and get tanked before the show starts. What's not to like :)

All the bars and places to eat in Athens don't want to pony up the amount of money that is charged to host the radio shows. Donatos is spending thousands to have the "privilege" of hosting the radio show.

Don't disagree with your points BB.  Fan friendly is great, especially when people can feel comfortable bringing their chicldren(aka future Bobcats.)
