Watching the BG game on ESPNU - they just showed an ad for the MAC - two college aged kids and their uncle or someone eating in a diner.  Just God awful.  I'm not sure if I'm more disappointed that someone approved the commercial, or someone actually concepted and created it.  An embarrassment to the conference and the advertising industry.

What is a commercial going to do for an athletic conference?

Even worse is it's back after being shown last year!

The thread weaving through generic people playing sports in ever changing color uniforms has been playing on ESPN3 during the Kent game as well.

I'm sure we'll see the girl watching MAC Women's basketball while performing some type of medical procedure in what looks to be a poorly furnished hospice room soon as well.

Luckily for the regional broadcasts no one will be subjected to it thanks to their contract with the god-knows-what-the- hell-it-is-but-no-one-gets-it network

But look for them Sunday.

I'm not sure which is worse -- the MAC ads or the NCAA spots where the marching band turns into cheerleaders.

There are a few schools in the MAC that would be better off in another conference..

There were a few moments last year when I thought the father in that MAC diner spot was actually Dave Wottel, which would have been really cool in my estimation. But I believe only the film clip glimpse of him and his hat are the real Wottel.  Otherwise, wouldn't they at least refer to his feats in the script?  May be the only time that a hat gained as much publicity as the wearer.

Don't think it is.  He's a motivational speaker now and the pic from the website doesn't seem to match up (to be sure, we'd need that facial profiling software discussed elsewhere).

Dave Wottle--that's gotta be a generation separater.

Does anyone under 40 know who he is...heard his name before?

I think we are better off without either of them.  I would rather not have a commercial than either of those racing stripes.

The diner ad is just lame.  But the other that looks like it was made using content from Istockphoto with a MAC logo tossed in.

Just my opinion.
