Are the Red Chicken Hawks with the conference champ QB at the helm Boucher really going to be that lousy?

Did something happen to Tulsa that they the aren't favorite at Bowling Green? Tulsa is a borderline BCS buster this year, or at least they should be. Is Bowling Green really THAT good?

Surprised NIU isn't the favorite going into Iowa. Home turf plus new coach for NIU must be playing huge factors.

OSU lost a lot on the D-line, look for Buffalo to pound the rock.

Agree completely. Those two really jumped out at me as head-scratchers.

I think the spread here I'd be most likely to put money on (other than our Bobcats!) is Toledo (+24) vs. Florida. UF's starting RB isn't playing the opener and their offense is pretty pitiful in general this year. Toledo has a great offense returning on their end. I think the Rockets lose by 17 or less.

I thought things had changed since the MAC had gotten some respect, some exposure (at least for the top teams) over the last few years.  It used to be that you could find some great bets on MAC teams in the first week or two of the season since the conference got no respect at all.  Doesn't seem to have changed to much from that given some of these lines.

Florida has, albeit small sample size of just two games, struggled with MAC schools the last few years at the Swamp.. Miami in 2010 and BG last year.

and they just suspended 6 more players, they're down like 10 players for this game, Toledo has a chance on this one

Unfortunetly Herbstreit just picked Toledo to win, essentially ending all hope for the rockets.

West
Northern Illinois (+3) at Iowa NIU wins by 3
Toledo (+24) at Florida Toledo loses by 18
Illinois St. at Ball St. (No line) Ball State wins by 23
Western Michigan (+27.5) at Michigan St. WMU loses by 13
Central Michigan (+31.5) at Michigan CMU loses by 50
Howard at Eastern Michigan (No line) EMU wins by 10

East
Ohio (+20.5) at Louisville
Tulsa at Bowling Green (-3.5) BG wins by 27
Buffalo (+36.5) at Ohio St.Buffalo loses by 20
Liberty at Kent St. (No line) Kent wins by 7
Miami (OH) (+18) at Marshall Fiami loses by 38
Akron (+21) at UCF Kron loses by 31
UMass (+44.5) at Wisconsin U.Mass loses by 45

I color coded the results to see the pattern, teams that did worse than I would have expected in red, teams that did better in blue, and then re-ordered the games into projected order of finish for the conference. The teams at the top of the conference all did well, and those at the bottom all did worse. In the West, there were relatively good results from NIU, Toledo, Ball State, and WUM, and weak ones from CMU and EMU.  In the East, there were good results from BG and Buffalo, with worse ones from Kent, Miami, Akron, and U. Mass.

soooo....looking for Ohio to have a good game tomorrow. There have been two big MAC wins (NIU and BG), but no upsets yet. We can't have a week of MACtion with no upsets, can we?
