I think this firmly establishes Ohio as the OL pipeline to the NY Giants. (beginning with Art Lewis in '36 of course).

With Herman drafted, if the Bobcatattack.com archives had not been lost, now would be an interesting time to go back and read his original recruiting thread. I still remember that when he was recruited, someone got on and posted how Ohio had made a major mistake, and Herman was not that good, and that Ohio should have taken some other person. I have a hunch that the "other person" never even made it to Division I.

Congratulations to Eric for a great career at Ohio, and here's wishing him a great career in the NFL to follow.

That seems to be the way with most of the really good players in non-AQ conferences.  The AQ schools find some flaw they're not willing to take a chance on -- height, speed, injury, size, whatever -- and the player comes to a non-AQ and excels because the coaching staff is willing to work with him and develop him.  DJ's a great example of that on the b-ball side.  Thanks, Michigan, for being so narrow-minded.

I always enjoy seeing comments praising Herman but qualifying his accomplishments by pointing out that he didn't play for a "big time" program. As if the #1 overall pick in the draft wasn't a lineman from the exact same conference.
