I've fired up kents/BG on the 'net.
*
I've watched about 5 minutes of game action and have seen two td's, one by each with kents up 21-17.
What has this taught me?
What I've posted here many times over the years: It's all about the d-line. We can't be markedly good unless we have some solid 290-310lb d-tackles and some large and/or quick d-ends who make plays.
With them, we win the MAC and compete nationally. Without them, we can be only so good...struggle...perhaps competing for the MAC title..maybe.
As I've also said, really good d-linemen are the toughest position to fulfill in recruiting. The good news is that OUr staff knows this--look at the newbies we've brought in on the d-line this year. If they develop as expected, we get a log better. And, hopefully, hello Trae Clark.
Plus, our zone pass defense will get drilled repeatedly if we can't get qb pressure, if the d-line does not get off.
Simply, as the d-line goes, we go.
Have we no potential to play man to man pass defense?
*I must be really bored.
