Not worthy of its own post is SI's Mid-Major (hate that name) Report which listed Ohio among its "three down" for the week (along with Tulsa -- they played on Thursday, not Saturday as reported -- and Boise).  I agree with the observation: "This was as bad a performance as Ohio could have possibly had, and it’s likely not indicative of what we’ll see from the team in league play. The Bobcats were simply overwhelmed by a superior opponent."  I expect a markedly improved performance from Ohio this Saturday.  Go Cats!!!

This is when the season starts. Louisville is being mentioned as having an outside shot to play in the BCS Championship game. I did not expect Ohio to be competitive.  This should be a good game. If we get blown out by NT like last week there will be cause for concern.

Definitely need to have a short memory after Saturday. OU went into Happy Valley last year against a much worse and "unguided" PSU team. Not trying to diminish one of the biggest wins in Ohio history, but if I compare it to L'Ville...I'm not surprised at that score from Saturday.

On to North Texas, I can see Ohio putting up a lot of points, however NT put up a lot of points against a weak Idaho team last week. But that's what good teams should do against teams like Idaho. Their quarterback looked pretty accurate completing 23-27 passes and 350 yards. It looks like they're 1-dimensional from their 104 yards on the ground with 2 RB and obvious air attack. This makes me a little nervous because Bridgewater & Co. torched us on the sidelines and down the field. Our defense will have to show up.

I expected Ohio last week to play like it wanted to be there, like it had something of a chance to win the game.

I'm wondering why we didn't go with man to man pass defense...or, at least, if that's not our base scheme, why Louie had so many receivers so wide open so often.  I thought that the d-backs were supposed to be a strength.

My theory was that because of injuries last year, they didn't have enough contact in practice either last spring or in fall camp, and Ohio wasn't prepared to be aggressive enough. It was a one-game problem. They will be fine from here out. NTSU will be a physical game on both sides of the ball. McCarney emphasizes that, and so does Solich.

It appears that we are all holding our breath on this game after last week. Louisville is 1 one of the countries best teams and we need to put last weeks game into a class by itself and not over exaggerate it's impact for future games.
Frank will have us prepared for this game and I believe we will right the ship.
I just watched Russ's piece on our win @ NTSU a few years back. Taylor Price's quote at the end "YOU GOTTA BELIEVE" says it all.  Frank needs to show that piece to the team as a motivational force for today's game.
I BELIEVE!

Last week's games didn't show much about either team.  Ohio's opposition was far above the teams we'll see the rest of the season, and was out to make a point to those who belittle them because of their schedule.  NT's opponent is on the skids and may be one of the weakest teams they'll see all year -- but they showed they can win on the road.  This game will likely be a springboard to a really good season for the winner, and it will probably go to the team that wants it more.

Just curious, I will be driving up north to Lima tonight, I usually lose the bobcat station just north of marysville, would anybody know if there is a station up there that might have the game? I don't have the technology in my car to listen to the game on my phone plus I lose service up there any way. Thank you so much for any help.

sorry, not buying the wants it more argument. This game will probably be won by the team that wins in the trenches, makes the least mistakes, and gets a big play or two.
We will know how good Louisville is as the season goes on, as we will about Ohio. I don't get all the talk about Louisville not being a real test of how good we are. It was. We were not good, I don't care who you're playing, you can't make all the mistakes we made and be considered a good team. We'll see if somehow all the ineptitude shown last week is systemic or just applies to that game.

I recommend downloading the TuneIn radio app.  You can listen to WXTQ Power 105.5 directly on that.  I've always had good luck with it in the Cleveland area when I couldn't be in front of a TV.

On ESPN 3 the crowd looks great but very quiet.  Good turn out after laying an egg in L'ville.

Thoughts:

-We still can't rush the passer without a blitz.

-Boykin has improved his game. He and Beau are going to be a load this year.

-If I'm Solich, the team is doing an up-down for every penalty yard committed tonight at the next practice.

-No way there were more than 24,000 people there. And those who did come were quiet. How many variations of "get loud" can oldkatz come up with?

-Big ups to the O-line. Beau and Ryan got their's. No sacks. Very few TFLs. The unit has been hurt, but I thought they produced well tonight.
