Agree!

People know that I have always been about the cool uniform and such.. However, I'm getting tired of all the new unis.   Time to go back to basics...

I think Fiami's unis "jumped the shark" for me.

With that said, I love the white helmet but my second favorite is the Black helmet with Green coming in a close 3rd .  (I like the wider stripe down the middle on the black vs the skinny one on the green.

I've heard we are going all black this weekend which makes me think we will probably roll out something new for the Marshall game.

I'm  still been hearing from some sources that Russell Athletics stepped up with something new for this year.  The white jerseys were the same as last so I'm thinking it's either new Green or a new alternate uni.  Of course Marshall would be the perfect game to be the right game.

Let's all pray it's not anything as extreme as the Redchickens unis with the bird feather design on the helmet.

Maybe we could have BobCat spots on ours??? haha....

I like all the uniforms/helmets. A lot of schools (e.g. Miami) have some that I think are awful, but all of Ohio's are tasteful. I love the flat green helms, not flashy, but match exactly the uniforms. They look great with either green shirts or pants. I love the black helms, but only with the all-black look. The white ones look good with anything, except all-black.

I don't like that we roll out the all-blacks on games other than the designated blackout game. Basketball is guilty of this, too. It's like, the Kent State game is the blackout game where our team wears all-black uniforms. But wait, didn't they already do that for the North Texas game?

Funny you say that about the green matching.  I was watching the Miami vs Marshall game last night and I know they got new green uni's last year.   However, it clearly looks like the re-order for replacements was from a different lot.    Some were much lighter than others.  (not from sweat)...

I noticed that too.

I think some of the Notre Dame uniforms looked like a different shade of blue too..  The QB's looked lighter than the linemen and a few of the receivers. This was also at the beginning so like you said sweat would not have been a factor.

I noticed also last year.. WV's yellow jerseys didn't match their yellow pants.

Marshall's issue was the one we had back when I played.  There is no official color of "Kelly" green.  So each fabric is different per dye-lot or bolt.

My personal favorite is white helmet, with green shirts and pants, what we wore when we beat Temple in '09 to clinch the MAC East

Ahhhh!    Kelly Green.  Those were the days.  Can't wait for that to come around again.

Despite which, I like the white helmets best, too.  As was previously said - "Tradition".

I'll put in a vote for the green helmets. I think they are among the best looking helmets in college football.

You can see a lot of different combos in the pics that CMoney posted to the Is my clock working thread. There is no reason to repost them all here. In general I liked the combos where the pants and helm matched. Thus, I liked Green-White-Green, or White-Green-White. I also like white-white-white and green-green-green. The combos that were shirt and helm matching, with opposite pants in general I didn't like as well, whether it was green-green-white, or white-white-green. I also didn't care for matching shirt and pant without a matching helmet. I definitely like the matte green helms better than the old glossy green ones.

The black? It should be all black or nothing black.

I think our worst combo that we've worn is the green-black-green worn last year against Akron. Too busy.

I agree, the options where the helmet and pants don't match don't work. With 3 uniforms (green, black, white) we have 27 combo options. if you eliminate the mismatched helmets/pants options you're down to 9.

From those 9 you have 6 for home game options (based off of the green jerseys and black jerseys), and 3 for the away games (based off of the white jerseys). However, the black helmets/pants don't work with the classic style green jerseys or white jerseys so you're left with 7 usable combos, 5 home, 2 away.

5 Home options-
Black Jerseys with G, B or W helmets/pants combos
Green Jerseys with G or W helmets/pants combos

2 Away options
White Jerseys with G or W helmets/pants combos

We wore all 7 of these combos last year.

I don't know if it was done on purpose but we've very smartly built a uniform collection that gives us 7 usable options that look good, offer variety, but share a consistency. Very well done.

If we were to add a 4 uniform combo into the mix I would be in favor of something over the top that can't be mixed and matched with the other 3. We have the solid foundation, time to do something crazy. That's the problem with Miami's uniforms, its their every day option, something like those should be in addition to a foundation of uniforms like we've collected.

I think a white jersey with the Arched Ohio on the sleeves would be an awesome option. Just replace the black with White.

Uniwatch last year called the combo Ohio wore on Saturday one of the best in the nation. I agree. Green helmets, white jersey and green pants for road games are great. I'd stick with the white helmets at home. Mix and match for the MAC drgs, but always green jersey and white pants for the meaningful MAC games and homecoming.

Ditch the black altogether. It's a 1990s gimmick that has gone out of control. Tacky as hell. It worked as a one-time thing against Marshall, but it just isn't a good look. And it's terrible branding, minimizing your major colors.

Every time a team wears black instead of their real colors, I think of the atrocities that were the Mets, Athletics and Royals jerseys of the late 1990s and early 2000s in baseball. Blech.

And I say that as a purchaser and owner of one of the black jerseys, which is framed and hanging in my office.

Gotta disagree with you Brian Smith: The all blacks/vaders are a great look. Especially with the matte finish black helmets. They won't do for everyday wear, but for formal occassions, you can't beat black dress

Interesting Tidbit from today's Uni Watch.  Here is Paul Lukas' quote.  It makes sense with it being Halloween weekend and all.  Anybody know anything about it?

"A little birdie informs me that Ohio’s Oct. 26 game against Miami will be a “Ghost Out”: “They will be giving away replica white jerseys and the team will be wearing a new jersey. It will be similar to the current whites with the shoulder stripes and all. In addition they will have ‘Ohio’ arched across the front above the numbers and the numbers themselves will be green but with a brick pattern on them.”

Sweet Jesus please let this happen. The only thing missing is an "1804" on the back where the player's name is, similar to Air Force or Navy's use of "Honor" or the other words they incorporate.

Hey--I have a really great idea for what uniform we should wear.

Not the one that we wore against Louisville.  No; let's try the the one in which we play OHIO FOOTBALL.

Yes, I am still plenty upset about our pretty much non-performance last Sunday.

Nice!

I'm in agreement, being a big fan of the all Black, followed by Green Helmet, White jersey, Green pants as my second fav.
