With all the injuries and honestly several former players commented on the lack of physique Ohio guys have compared to our opponents. They placed the blame on Sano and his program. Something to ponder!

This comes up every once in a while, usually gets written off as blasphemy.

I don't think that's it. For the most part posters just don't respond as none of us have the expertise to comment on the job he does.

Well, Frank has had him on his staff for what 8/9 years, so I would say that Frank is happy with the job he does.

if have to say that Frank is loyal to a fault. He's not into making changes IMO.

I'm sure when it comes to his program, Frank is going to make changes when he is not happy and will do what he needs to.

Physique?

Are you talking about a lack of size, or not looking like a body builder?

That body builder look has more to do with diet than it does with strength.

Powerlifters don't look like professional wrestlers.

Sano was already at Ohio before Frank showed up too, right?

He was, but I believe Frank helped developed the program that Sano uses, and has sent him to work with guys who trained Frank's players at Nebraska.  All I am saying is if Frank was not happy, he would make a change.

Coach Solich has seen strength training evolve for athletes and would have contacts with the best in the business. At Ohio there are many examples of athletes who have gained or lost weight and have become much stronger and faster each year. Even BB keeps improving.  Many injured athletes have come back stronger after their injuries. It is early to start throwing anyone under the bus.

K Moore was sprinting to the QB on a blitz when an OL stepped back hard on his ankle just as KM was making a cut through the hole with all of his weight on it. How does Sano stop a 350lb tackle from doing that?

Sam Johnson pulled to block the edge on a run play when an Ohio OL pancaked a Lville DL onto the side of his leg. How does Sano stop 600lbs+ of linemen from doing that?

Please do not take my post the wrong way, I am 100% not throwing anyone under the bus.  All the former players I have met hold Coach Sano in very high regard.

They changed the workout program due to the abnormal amount of injuries last season. I would say regardless of HOW the injuries happen 2 after one game..do the math.

They also changed the turf. Hopefully the changes will pay off, and this year they won't just keep mounting.

Ohio went from Field Turf to AstroTurf, Louisville just installed new Field Turf. Maybe that is why we lost a knee, an ankle, and a shoulder??????

AstroTurf and Field Turf are separate companies that install playing surfaces.  The actual product is quite similar.  The common misunderstanding is that Astroturf is a rugid, rubber-like product when in actuality it is the name of the actual company.  Astroturf has a product called "Game-Day Grass" which is used mostly for football surfaces and a product called "Astroturf 12" which is the rubber-like surface used for sports such as field hockey.  The new playing surface in Peden stadium is the Game-Day Grass.   Other schools/teams that used AstroTurf include Kansas State, St. Louis Rams, Florida State, and the University of South Carolina.

Florida State and South Carolina have turf? Always thought those schools in the South didn't need the fake stuff.

This says it all.  We are playing football here. A tough, physical game. Big bodies flying around at top speed, running in to one another. As a former player, Super Iron Bobcat, Exercise Physiology Major, former Strength and Conditioning coach, I can say will full confidence...it is not the strength program.
Sano, along with his staff, does a great job of keeping up with the newest S&C techniques as well as sticking with is tried and true. There is absolutely nothing that you can do in the weight room that will prevent these injuries. Take a look at the NFL. Every year you have countless ACL tears, sprained ankles, shoulders, broken bones etc....it's football. It happens.

(I read this site daily. First post on here....figured I would comment on what I know)

At the end of the day GO BOBCATS. It's time to win the MAC.

Injuries happen from not being aggressive enough, pure and simple.  Look at the great players and teams  and they usually avoid these types of injuries.  We just need to play 110% on every play without hesitation and we will be causing these injuries instead of sustaining them.

Definitely post more often 25.  You can provide here what I try to provide at work:  anti-stupidity service.  (The acronym is considered appropriate by many where I work.)

Of course Rufus 25 is more credible. He offered credibility right in his post: former college player, exercise physiology major, and strength and conditioning coach. His post is instantly more credible with that information as opposed to posting anonymously under "Rufus 25" and wondering why people won't take his word for it.

That's not a shot at Rufus 25. My point is, the anonymity of message boards defeats credibility. Why should I put any more credibility in a "BIllyTheCat" post than I do a "perimeterpost" or a "pataskala" post, or etc.? I don't know any of those guys or what they bring to the table.

Not really suggesting a change. Just pointing out a weakness in these discussions.
