At what point are we going to stop calling them "Terd" & "Stupid Cow"?

At the same time we stop calling Miami "Fiami," etc.; Ohio State "A&M," "o$u," etc.; Bowling Green "BUGS," "BGSUcks," etc.; Kent State "Can't," etc.; Akron "Kron," "crAkron," etc.; Ball State "BallS U," "Testicle Tech," etc.; Buffalo "sucks," etc.

But the rest of those are really clever.  The two most commonly used for Marshall are very weak and are not really very funny.  Back in the day, when Marshall had really horrid teams, people used to call them the Blundering Herd.  In fact, that got under their skin so much that for a period of time, they changed the official nickname from Thundering Herd to "Big Green."  Speaking of lame!

I agree that Terd & Stupid Cow are really lame on the insult front... sound like something a 2nd grader would come up with.

Besides, why not just go with an embarrassing name the locals actually called them in the 30s... The Boogercats

"Terd" = contraction "T'erd," as in "The Herd" (which is written across their chests), minus the apostrophe. If that isn't as linguistically clever as "o$u," "Kron," or "BallS U," I don't know what is. Poop jokes are funny. They're funny to 5 year olds, they're funny to 25 year olds, and they're funny to 50 year olds.

Monroe has his reasons for "stupd cow," and I will not judge him for them.

I'm willing to entertain alternative nicknames for the Thundering Terd, but only if they are at least as insulting to marshall and (more importantly) its fans. There's nothing wrong with pure unadulterated sports-hate.

OCF is right about "Blundering Herd".  I also heard "Blundering Crud" sometimes.  That was heard a lot in the Ohio Valley region in the 70s and 80s.  Some people would also say "Turd" but scatalogical references were not as acceptable back then.  Also, a lot of people held off from insulting Marshall back then out of respect for the plane crash.  Also, Marshall was pretty darn good in basketball back then so that held off some insults.

I have to say I'm not very fond of the "Terd" or "Stupd Cow" monikers.  Especially the "Terd" reference.

Mike Coleman and I have tried the past few years to popularize "Herdistan", but with very limited success.  I think that's hilarious!

It is a readily observable fact that the greater part of stupd cow fans who post on this website before the game is played have little respect for the OHIO BOBCATS FOOTBALL.

It is a readily observable fact that in played games the stupd cow are their own worst enemy by way of a penchant for winning the first quarter, lack of disciplline and more enjoying being 'in your face' about a play than playing good football for four quarters.  They are a difficult team to have sympathy for.

It is a readily observable fact that about two of the stupd cow followers have come on this site since we made it three in a row.

To put it a little more concisely:  Classless before, Classless during, Classless after.

It took a mistake free game for Ohio to win at home. I think Marshall will be just fine moving forward.
