Buffalo Idle

This looks like a more promising week for the MAC. In all the FCS games the MAC team is heavily favored. In the BCS/FCS games, the MAC is the underdog in all of them, but the spreads are much smaller than the last few weeks. Hopefully the MAC can bag at least one upset this week. Unless Akron is still thinking about last week, they seem to have a shot, and WMU is also possible.

In other games today, all of Ohio's first three foes had decent games, but two lost in the end:
Louisville destroys FIU 72-0
North Texas State plays tough, but falls in the end to Georgia 45-21
Marshall leads most of the game, but falls in 3 OT 29-21

WMU has lost but moved the ball well against two BCS teams already this season, I wouldn't be too surprised to see them put it all together against Iowa and win this game.   Iowa, of course, has already lost to NIU.  Kent State at Penn State also might be closer than the pundits think.  Dri Archer played his first game in a few weeks against LSU . . . and will probably be back in form for this one.  And, PSU ain't no LSU!  Just a few random thoughts from a less than talented pigskin prognosticator.

Truth in Packaging:  Years ago at Marshall, when I was co-adviser of The Parthenon in the fall of 1970, I had a storied career along with the other co-adviser authoring a weekly (or should it have been weakly?) football prediction column under the joint pseudonym of, are you sitting down, "The Thundering Thumb Thumpers."

Western Michigan was good 2 years ago.  They were disappointing last year  They look pretty bad this year. There has been some Regression there for sure.

The new WMU coach can recruit, but can he win?

NIU is off to a bad start again this week, giving up 225 yards of offense to FCS E.Illinois so far...and it isn't even the end of the first quarter.

Akron could be a lot tougher than most expected at the beginning of the year. They  let LL get back to back touchdowns when an onside kick by LL worked, then in their comeback effort, they missed 2 field goals and a 2 point conversion down the stretch. That's 2 weeks in a row they let games get away.

I hope you did not bet that "lock". Only lock there is the series history! If it can happen, it will.
