There's a disconnect between USC's apparent talent and their performance.  Their front liners appear to be really good athletes.  Then, they have little depth.  But there may have been too much leaning on first-teamers and not so much on depth, with two bad results:  exhausted/susceptible to injury first teamers and no depth development.

See OHIO last year which went to its depth...took the hit...andis better for it now.

Does USC not have a strong walk on program?  (How could they not have a fine one?)

Also, USC sure gets hit with a lot of penalties.  Seems to be (have been) tolerated lack of discipline.

USC is still under NCAA sanctions (15 signees/year, 75 scholarship athletes total). I think the biggest issue is that Kiffen is a great recruiter but not that great an in game coach. Unfortunately for USC, they get great athletes without needing a great recruiter; what they need is a coach to develop/coach that talent. By hiring a recruiter, they're basically ignoring their built in (following the Carroll years) recruiting advantage.

Funny thing is, that's exactly what TOS would probably say. I think he's truly found his dream job and is happy there. Hey, to each his own!!

At first I laughed . . . and then I thought, oh no, this could really happen.   They seem made for each other: snotty, preppy, and a better than thou attitude.

Tim O'shea (TOS) is a former basketball coach (was replaced by John Groce) who deperatly wanted to be a coach in New England rather than Athens Ohio.  After we won the MAC in 05, his name pretty much came up in any job opening along the eastern sea board until he left to coach Bryant.   TOS to *insert name of school looking for head basketball coach* Threads were common place pretty much every off-season.  It soon became an inside joke to link TOS to any and every coaching vacancy in the country no matter the sport, and as you can see, it still goes on today.  Hence the thread TOS to USC.
