@Akron is a good time for the ground game to get back on track.

You may be right, but it's on the guys in the trenches to open the holes. Our injuries there are significant right now.

Jason Arkley addresses it in article published today: http://www.athensohiotoday.com/sports/ohiouniversity/getting-back-on-track/article_73b992c7-627c-573b-8713-8348952768fc.html

He points out that the current 7-man OL rotation has 1 senior, 3 sophomores, 2 redshirt freshman and 1 true freshman. John Prior is the only still active OL from the preseason projected starting lineup. I guess the hope is these guys continue to get better or some of the injured guys (Lechner, Johnson, McGrath, Smith and Powell) come back.

Solich and Albin are very blunt in the article that Ohio's not going anywhere unless the run game improves.

This line will be very good in 2 years, when Powell, Lucas, McQueen, Gibbons, Everhart, Watson, Wood are all Seniors in the Juniors. The best fix in the short run, though, is for the starters to get healthy. Otherwise we just have be patient as the younger guys improve.

I remember back in 2005 a promising start to the season fizzled when 3 starters on the Offensive Line went down to injury in one 5-minute period against Bowling Green and there really was no depth behind them. This year when the starters went down against Louisville there was depth, and I'm hoping that the season is the reverse - a slow start turns into a powerful finish as the younger line continues to return, and the Seniors heal up and return.

Does any other team in MAC have the depth-and-youth-therefore-potential-to-develop that we have on both lines.

We will get better on both lines game by game.  I think that you will almost literally be able to track the numbers.

Coach and staff know exactly what we need.  They're all over it with depth and player development.

Maybe I am green-koolaid, wild-eyed, crazy over optimistic.  But I think there's some good football in this team this year.
