Akron, our next opponent, has lost 16 straight MAC games and 25 straight games vs 1A teams, although they came close to winning the last two weeks.  Next week they open MAC play at BG.  Do we want them to win or lose?  A loss could make them even hungrier for a MAC win and give them more incentive to beat us, but it might also perpetuate a "can't win" attitude.  On the other hand, a win could get rid of that hunger (giving them less incentive to beat us) but it could also give them confidence going into our game.  Which would you prefer?  I'd sort of like to see them lose big and deflate whatever confidence they may have gained the last two weeks.

I vote win, b/c the assumption is that the East comes down to us and BG, so any conference loss for BG is good for us.

Akron vs BG.  For BG.

BG is our biggest threat to winning the East. Any loss by them the rest of the way is a big plus for us. I would also hope we can beat Akron regardless of what attitude they bring into the game.

I vote for an Akron win. First it puts a loss on the team many picked to win the east. Second, it sends a message to Ohio players that Akron should not be taken lightly.

My thoughts exactly. Hang a loss on the team we figure will be our biggest competition for the MAC East title, then take care of business ourselves.

^this

Ohio will be the underdog at BG, and if they lose, Ohio can't win the MAC East unless BG has two other losses.

Don't care about backing into any championship.  I would like BG to come to the Ohio game as highly rated as possible. I believe the 2013 seniors can take care of business.

I always prefer to take on a team coming off a win rather than a loss.  I think most teams are less "hungry" after a win.

Except, maybe in this case, huh?.  You could see from the Michigan game that Akron is getting close.  I do not want to see them full of confidence.  They just might beat BG, which serves our greater purpose, but it's still Akron.  I want to see them return to their proper place on the MAC East doorstep.  Go Falcons!

I vote yes.  It puts pressure on Bowling Green early in the season.  Also, we need the lower parts of the conference to get stronger for the MAC to look better.  Not having Akron as a doormat would be nice for a change.

It's hard to understand why they aren't better, considering their known recruiting advantages. They have malls, after all.

Gotta root for Akron. Any conference loss for BG will definitely help us get to Detroit. I want to see OHIO play a game on December 6. I don't care how they get there - charge in, back in, tumble in, whatever. Get to Detroit and bring home the MAC Championship.

No, no we don't want Akron to win next week.  Let me explain:

If Akron wins next week, that guarantees that Ohio loses.  When two teams play each other in college football, one team wins, and the other loses.  The objective is to win.  It's been that way for awhile.  So no we DON'T want Akron to win.

Anyone else scared to death about this game?? It's pretty obvious to me that Akron has improved immensely. Hope our guys come ready to play...we will need our "A" game, particularly on defense.

It seems like Akron is close to turning a corner. They have talent and they're putting scares into people (albeit for only a half or so today). It really seems like they just need to learn how to win. Let's hope it doesn't start with the next game. Playing at Akron is a tougher game than it looks, but being their first FBS victim in a loooooong time would be very embarrassing for our program. Hopefully the team remembers how close Akron came to winning in Athens last year.

I absolutely hate to post this 'cause I don't believe in anything but winning on the field....talk is pointless..but:  We absolutely should win this game.  I'm not saying by 47 points or anything like that.  But all indications from what I've seen of us (most everything) and 'kron (about a quarter of today's game) is that we are better than they are.  When the clock strikes 0:00, I expect us to have more points than 'kron.

I feel exactly the same way. Bowling Green to me right now is as much of a peer school in the MAC if any and once they adjusted they rolled through in the second half. Solich knows Akron on the road isn't going to be an easy opener and without a win here they can forget the season.
