OURLADS updated the Bobcats depth chart yesterday (5/31) which includes most of the recent transfers. It's not perfect but it's certainly something to look at and get excited about.

Observations
- Missing Bradley Weaver at DE
- Still lists Coastal Carolina transfer CB Proche on there despite his injury
- Mekah Ryder at Nickelback
- Lots of unknowns at the TE position...Will Mason Williams be healthy? Who will step up?
- Nice to see we didn't lose Austin Brawley, Adonis Williams or Jeremiah Wood to the portal
- DL depth is concerning especially if we have any injuries to starters
- WR room looks pretty solid despite losing pretty much everyone

Most of it makes sense to me. What do you guys think?

Pretty much what I expected with of course Weaver in a starting role.

Dennis with his speed should bring some excitement as a kick returner.

I think we have virtually no idea how it’s going to turn out. Way too many new faces, some with very little game experience at this level, to be able to forecast with any certainty the results. If the coaching staff can get this group to win more than 6 games they deserve some big time cudos. (and raises)

I have to differ with you a bit there. Losing a huge chunk of our team and winning 6 games would not be a basis for kudos and raises for the staff. A big part of the "new" job is re-recruiting and retaining talent as much as possible given the current portal/NIL environment. Winning 8,9,10 games would indicate that the staff has done an excellent job of bringing in new players through the portal and incoming freshmen. Kudos would be due there.

Before everyone jumps in and says it's all about the money...I get it. That's a new part of the job that college staffs must deal with. Whether it's being adept at attracting NIL $, creating a team environment that helps retain players, or finding diamonds in the rough to replace departing players.

Sorry about the cudos spelling. I agree that a 8 win or more season would be cause for some acclaim, but with our status with location and lack of local help with NIL money, I’m guessing we are fighting a losing battle - even if our coach were a hall of famer. I think we have fundamental disadvantages that a coach can hardly overcome in the present climate of college athletics. They can only do so much and it’s asking a lot to lose 30-40 players and expect to do well w/o money nowadays. Let’s just say, I have pretty low expectations this year and going forward. We shall see.

If this staff is able to win six games with all they have lost it would be a minor miracle! This program doesn't have the NIL collective that many other schools have. And the above quote of winning 9-10 games is way unrealistic expectations. It is all about the money these days.

A few changes to this. Brawley is the SS, Williams the FS. Albin was singing the praises of Coleman Owen. I assume he has a great chance in the slot to start. The great thing about Weaver is he can bump inside to a 3 tech at any point. Cheer a little louder for that dude this year. He could have been elsewhere and I assume turned down some dumb offers.
I would expect Bryce Butler to see some major minutes in a sniffer role with Williams back to full strength. He was limited in the Spring and Bruno who impressed so far.
The staff should be lauded for what they have been able to add with the Edge from Nevada and SDSU.
Not sure what happens at tackle opposite Dennis or what depth they have there. That could be a question mark.
My advice would be to get in the program line early. You are going to want a roster.

I'm not sure that we are leagues behind a lot of the MAC teams but as far as the FBS goes we are near the bottom and our expectations need to tempered in that light. I think in basketball we were kind of lucky to have several players that were just barely not good enough to be offered more money. Football was not as lucky. I think we have had an inordinate number of players transfer up. Probably a lot more than will be the norm for even the less well funded teams. Not recognizing that is a little out of touch.

There are things that coaches HAVE to constantly sell to their players to keep them all in and focused like "Next man up!" But then there is reality like how much injuries matter, how much schedule matters, how much luck is involved in the outcome of a single game, and now new to college sports how much money matters.

Losing half the players and replacing them with different ones is surely a challenge for the coaches. It definitely puts them at a disadvantage, but, compared to what? Compared to how things were? Absolutely. Compared to other teams in the MAC? I don't know. Other MAC teams face the exact same issues. I really don't have time to follow all the MAC teams, but I suspect that Ohio is worse off than most or all other MAC teams in turnover this year, but that doesn't tell me whether Ohio will win 3 games, or 6 games, or 9 games this year. I'll just have to wait and see. If they only win 3, that will be disappointing. If they win 9 more more, that will be impressive.
