The money being thrown around now is amazing . BG just received 121 million to support scholarships with another 30 million possible. Will make the school stronger and much more likely to stop the drops in students going on almost everywhere. How does it affect sports-no idea but keeping the student population up can’t hurt. On another front, it looks like Miami’s endowment has passed ours after lagging by hundreds of millions for many years. Looks like we may be falling behind some of our league mates as far as recent money additions.

OU is now free tuition for Athens and surrounding counties. Bowling Green could never offer that and stay in business when 50% of their students are from the surrounding counties. I'd say its more them catching up. Also OU spends 25 million on scholarships a year now so that 116 million BG is getting won't last too long or only produce 5 to 8 percent in scholarship money a year.

They say they’re going to do about 4000 students a year.

On the website they are saying 6,200 students total are expected to receive it through 2035. 10 years figure about 6,200 students. Also its not a full tuition scholarship, only 11,000 a year. Tuition at BG is close to 14,000.

Its a nice award and I'm happy to see a conference mate run into money. It will help BG to clean up against Toledo, Akron and Wright State. Keep the enrollment high against a declining population of incoming freshman.

Wow...FREE??? When did this begin? I was unaware of this option/offer. While that's an exceptional opportunity for those who can take advantage of it, I'd be lying if I said it sure makes paying outside of that radius seem and feel rather devalued.

I double checked and it does require Pell Grant elgibility. That dampens the attractiveness of the program somewhat.

Nice to see families being given a chance to break the cycle of poverty.
