If we start the game with runs up the middle, I'll puke.

Since Albin/Gdowski have opened each of the last three game with first drive TDs I will wait to see if Ohio is running up the middle at the end.  Then we will all be smiling, except for those who just know more than the coaches no matter what.

I'm fine if we start the game with runs up the middle, so long as they either: generate 3.5  yards per OR switch to a different play if they're not working

Everytime I see it happen, I just keep thinking "hey diddle, diddle, Beau Blankenship (Ray Rice) up the middle"

I also think about Tecmo Bowl, when the other team picks your play and you get completely stuffed at the line. UNLESS...you had the Nigerian Nightmare Christian Okoye, who could break tackles like no other.

We've used the play action to Cochran in the even numbered games.  They might not be expecting it since it's our fifth game.

The Cats are only 2-2 under Solich after having at least 14 days between games during the regular season: Ls to BGSUcks in '05 & Fiami last year; Ws against Fiami in '07 & Akron in '08.  Both wins were at home and both losses were on the road.  Gotta break that pattern.

If my numbers are correct, the Bobcats have never won a game under Frank Solich the week after Lane Kiffen was fired at/just outside of LAX. On the other hand, we've never lost a game under Frank the week after Paul Pasqualoni was fired following a loss to Buffalo. One of those trends will end this weekend.

I'm not sure how well we're playing because Akron looks like the same old Zips.  I was expecting a better opponent but they look really bad so far in the rain.

Anyway, I won't count today or the next 3 up yet but we look like we have a good chance to be 7-1.  Then Tough road games after that with the division on the line.

Whatever good things they had coming out of the Mich game have disappeared.  We're forcing the TOs but they've been shooting themselves in the foot with silly penalties, especially the deadball fouls.  They might have more penalty yardage than total offense in the first half.  Good to see we're taking advantage of the TOs.  We have at least 16 pts off TOs.  If the lead holds up through the 3rd qtr we should see a lot of Vick in the 2nd half.

Best thing about today:  back-ups got a ton of time.  Goodness, we are deep.

ESPN3's announcers said that Akron looked much better in the second half than the first.  Of course, they didn't mention that they were playing mostly their 1s against mostly our 2s and 3s and still were outscored 13-0.

Today confirmed that the Cats are very well positioned for a run at Detroit.

Watching the end of the OSU / NW game, and Herbstreit just called out Mussberger for his Upset Special of Akron over Ohio on Gamesday this morning. Haha

I have  watched the OL starting units and was very pleased to have Mark Smith available.  My question is, how good must be Mr. Durrell Wood.  When have they previously started a true freshman? Just wondering if Sam Johnson were to get healthy if Mr. Wood would step aside?

And, did I see it correctly that Jerkstreet predicted Ball State over Virginia? The graphic wasn't up that long, and I was watching two games at the same time (one on TV and one on my iPad).  If so, I'll have to move Jerkstreet up a notch in my Jerk-o-meter and put him a hair above Mushmouth. My two least favorite announcers are now teamed up.  It sometimes almost gives me a migraine.

I really would like to watch most of the Saturday night feature games, but I've thought Mussberger was a jerk as far back as the early '70s when he was doing local sports on WBBM in Chicago and hearing Herbie has made my blood boil since last December.

The result of this game was very encouraging/satisfying.

I was nervous that we would have our hands full and be in a see-saw type game.

Very dominate, strong game on both sides.  I'm excited to see what my come.

Big John Pryor had quite a game. Love his calm, business type demeanor.  Great role model for the younger linemen.

Anyone else but me think that a couple of the Zips were reminscent of the few undisciplined Marshall players with their on field anticks, personal fouls, trash talk, etc. I am very appreciative that our coaches teach that to be unacceptable behavior. I am surprised that Terry Bowden lets that happen. I really disdain seeing that in college football.

I agree . . . also on a similar note I was very pleased to see Northwestern players several times hold out a hand and help OSU players get up after a play in Saturday night's game.  I noticed this early in the game and in the second half as well.  That shows me young men who have the game in perspective and are gentlemen and not "football thugs."
