Curious about what an expanded Peden might lead to? Look 90 minutes to the southwest at Marshall's 38,000 seat Edwards Stadium.

The only times it's been full is when they've played WVU or Virginia Tech. Beyond that, it has at least 10,000 empty seats most games. They got way too aggressive on expansion and are now stuck with it.

I wouldn't mind seeing a couple thousand more seats...but let's not go down the Marshall route of adding way more than we ever have or ever will need.

Think Sebo center in north opening between elevated sections.  Then seating extended downward in corner sections. Perhaps another 2k seats total.  Apparently these are actually in early planning stages.

This makes a lot of sense with all attention placed on the gap between the corner sections and the need to increase premium seating. I am going to assume this seating will be of the chairback variety and the building would have suites. Perfect for what our program needs right now without going overboard. 26,000 also takes Peden a step closer to 30,000 seats. I could live with that and a new monster sized scoreboard.

What else would folks realistically like to see in Peden? Outside of crazy, far-fetched expansion plans.

This wont be popular but truthfully a new stadium. I have been to many of the MAC stadiums and Peden is probably the worst.  It's not really much nicer than my old high school stadium.

Interestingly, when you read the opinions of other MAC fans, Peden typically ranks in the upper half of conference stadiums. There is some significant sprucing up coming in the next 5-6 years, but nothing like a new deck on the visitor's side or elimination of the corner sections.  But it will be significant nonetheless.

I noticed on that old design photo that Victory Hill is larger and terraced than what exists at the stadium. That could fall under significant sprucing too and the landscaping could look a lot better. The trees they planted around the corner sections served a purpose 20 years ago when the stadium was in the middle of nowhere but now out of place with the IPF taking out trees and the landscaping around Walter Hall.

Would the city of Athens have any say in the size of the scoreboard? . . .

In a word, "No."

Do you have access to any pictures of what you are describing?

I kinda think 25k is big enough for now.  We're as good as we've ever been and I don't think too many people are being turned away from the gates right now.  If and when the lean years come again I don't want to see a 30k+ stadium less than half full.  Yeah the corner seating is god awful to look at, and aesthetically I'd love to see a clean full bowl stadium look, but the replacement cost would be hard to justify right now.  Also what guarantees do we have that the NCAA isn't going to separate the big 5 conferences and throw us into a second tier conference level which would probably kill our attendance even more.

Just improve the concessions and restrooms (haven't we been asking this for years) and make the gameday atmosphere better with sound and scoreboard enhancements.  Also find a way to keep the students around until the 4th quarter.  I don't care if you have to give a bunch of crap away at the end of each game, but it's embarrassing to see the mass exodus after halftime.

Note that the following proposal for Div IV includes all FBS schools, not just AQ schools.  This is what is being actively discussed.  The "losers" in this scenario will be the FCS schools and, perhaps, the current members of Div 1 that don't play Div 1 football.

Some hoops schools may be hurt by Div 4 Proposal

No $ for it but a 30,000 seat (no more benches) stadium (with back up plan to get to 38k) with leg room and all modern amenities would do it.

Doesn't Frank's friend Warren Buffett monitor this board?  Problem solved!

I wanted to thank all of you so much for the first round of questions in the Peden survey that I sent out last week, I knew I could always count on my fellow bobcats! Thanks to you we had 133 responses to the survey, thats amazing for not even a whole week! Anyways on to new business, I have the second part of the survey up now and the link is below. This part is mainly focused on the seating aspect of Peden and how we can look for improvement. If I could count on you all one more time, this would be great and I will be sharing this feedback with my fellow co-workers and superiors within the athletic department as well. You never know, something you say may be used in the future here at Ohio University. Thanks again and GO BOBCATS!

P.S. Thanks for sharing your ideas on this thread as well!
