I give them a C-.  The technical quality was better than I expected, but Keith Morehouse (play-by-play) was pretty dreadful at times.  At one point he gave CMU a first down after a 7-yd run on 1st & 10, and didn't catch it for three plays when CMU lined up for a FG on what he thought was third down (that mistake also should be shared with his director/producer who should've caught it, too).  He also had CMU up 13-3 after their first made FG.  Frank Stams (color) was pretty good, but tended to see the last play as some kind of trend.  When CMU got a big gainer on a run, that was the trend; but the next play was stopped for a loss, and that became the trend.  He also called T2 "Titleton" at one point.  The few times she was on Lindsay Rowley was adequate as a sideline reporter, but when she interviewed CMU alumnus and former NFLer Robert Jackson, she didn't introduce him; maybe she forgot his name.

Unfortunately, this may be the best crew we'll see this season.  The midweek ESPN crews are usually much worse.

I'll give the commentators a -2 out of 10. They mispronounced names they pronounced right seconds before all the time, called the wrong players name 5+ times, started talking about things that were irrelevant to what was on screen, and just sucked. The camera angles were however better than some I've seen in Athens before

Terrible. The color guy had a conniption at the end of the first half because Ohio wasn't calling their three timeouts on defense. Until he realized Ohio didn't have three timeouts and admitted he misread the scoreboard. Terrible.

I really admired Pat Summerall as a pbp man (actually got to meet him once), but I remember him doing something similar back in the '90s.  He might've been drinking, though.

I caught one of them say "The buckey..... bobcats..." at one point.  4th quarter I think and we had the ball.

I was also very confused as to why THEY were confused about CMU's deliberate pace on the game winning drive.  The announcers thought CMU should be in the hurry up, rather than winding the clock down to give us as little time as possible if they do score.  They had one timeout I think, so turning it over on downs within 1:20 would have been game over on kneel downs.

They also didn't seem to realize that on that final drive that CMU was going to go for it on 4th down until they were within the 10 yard line.  As if punting or a field goal was an option?

Not that this was extraordinarily bad.  A lot of sportscasters don't know the rules and strategeries of the games they call.

It pisses me off though.  I never played a team sport beyond age 12 when the strategy was "whose mom brought the post game snack?"  And these announcers are paid to do this?  And have spotters and statisticians and producers?  And they probably played the sport through high school and many of them into college and a large number in the pros?  How can you be around something that long and not understand clock management?

When you work on a network that is distributed to about 12 people, there's really no incentive to actually try.
