The defending MAC East champs dropped to 2-5 overall, 1-3 in the MAC today.  That means their season is as good as over.  The best they can be is 7-5 overall, which probably won't get them into a bowl game.  And 5-3 likely won't win the division.  So for the next six weeks they'll be reduced to the role of spoilers.  And for the ninth straight season the MAC East champ fails to repeat (Fiami '03-'04 was the last to win back-to-back East titles).
