Every year there is another MAC squad that over takes the Bobcats in the MAC and soon we'll be mentioned in the same breath as Miami/EMU/Akron.

Ohio is at best the 6th best team in the MAC (behind NIU/Ball State/BG/Toledo/Kent State), with talent on this squad that shouldn't happen.

No, but a school like Ohio should be able to compete for a MAC title every year now and they aren't doing anything but taking a step back each season.

Is my computer broken?  It's telling me that we lost to mighty CMU at home on homecoming.

It's telling me that CMU scored more points on us than they did on redhawk.

Anyone have a digital age fix for this?

Not a good day for schools called OU or who come from towns called Athens I guess.

Kent State is a solid football team though, CMU isn't.

I'm sure that NIU will likewise lose to 'kron today.

Yeah. We just lost to a team that was in ESPN's bottom ten just a few weeks ago and losing to subpar teams is quite common under Solich and company.

Wasn't fighting you, just mentioning a score to back up your argument. I don't agree with you fully, but you have a point.

It's 17-14 NIU in the 2nd qtr.  They've already given up more pts to Akron at home than we did at Akron.

As we used to say in the 70's, 80's and The 90's "it just doesn't matter". There's always the bars.

ESPN's bottom ten is one writer's opinion and often has little to do with the actual quality of the team.  It's basically a joke.  And yes, CMU is a subpar team at this point in the season.  But that can change; they were 7-6 last season and had one of the only two bowl wins by MAC teams.  They've seemed to have our number in good years and bad, so maybe it's just one of those things.  I remember a mediocre pitcher for the Tigers named Frank Lary (128-116) who practically owned the Yankees in the late '50s and early '60s (27-10).

I can remember that we lost today at home on homecoming to CMU, starting off the second half with a brilliant Beau up the middle for a loss of about two on 3rd and about 3.

I can remember that CMU was 2-4 before today, sqeaking out a win over NHampshire and beating a very fine redhawk squad.

Has it been mentioned on here yet that Ohio's four turnovers were committed by seniors while arguably the best player on the field was a CMU redshirt freshman? Unexcusable on Ohio's part but quite possibly the difference in yesterday's outcome.

Agreed. The team is just hitting its stride. I would expect them to be on their game this weekend.

Right on the money Paul!

I asked it out loud before the punt, I asked it after the punt, and I'm still asking it: why did we even have someone back there to try to field that punt?  It opens the door to a very bad thing happening that can cost you the game...and it did.  Who cares if the punt rolls another 15 yards, possession is all that mattered.  Run clock, and at worst give CMU the ball back with little time and a long field.  Instead...

I agree with your view, but I'm not sure it would've made much difference the way CMU picked our defense apart.  In all likelihood, we would've gone with three runs which probably wouldn't have gotten a first down.  They likely would've had the ball back around their 30 with about two minutes to go.  It would've improved our chances, but I'm not sure it the outcome would've been any different.

I grant you that, we still could have lost.  But I think the odds of them going 70 yards in 2 minutes is less likely than 37 in 3 minutes.  It's so frustrating that they came up with the big defensive stop we needed...then gack it away on a fair catch attempt of a punt.  So, so frustrating.

Previous OU drive final running plays were for 5, 5, 6, 9 and 1 for the TD. I regret that the OL was not given the chance to show they had worn Central down  In all likelihood Beau or Boykin and the men would have killed the clock. We will never know and will have to agree to disagree.....

I am sure Mr. Carrie is sorry he disappointed you so much.  He, being a CB, I am sure has learned that in the 70-80 snaps he might be involved in, some will go against him. He will usually have about 3 seconds to wonder what happened then regroup and go again.  Fans need to learn how to do this.
