Since The Optimist hasn't posted much recently, I'll take over his role.  If we win next Saturday, we can beat Miami to become Bowl Eligible.  That will add just another layer of icing on the Bobcat victory cake.

This team still controls its own destiny; Saturday can be nothing more than a bump in the road.  But they can't afford to come out flat, like they did Saturday, against any of the next six teams.

I'm not worried yet, I still think this team will be in Detroit playing NIU for a MAC Championship..

They seemed flat for about 3 quarters saturday. Sometimes you need a loss like this to refocus.

Bowling Green is better than Ohio.  And we never seem to do well at Buffalo.  But, if we lose at Eastern Michigan, I will be seriously bummed.

That said, this team will continue to be hindered while trying to run a spread option with a QB that cannot run the ball anymore.  Every game is going to be tough unless you win the turnover battle big time, like vs. Marshall.

one loss to any team besides UB and BG has ZERO impact on our ability to get to Detroit.

Not true.  BG & Buffalo haven't lost in the MAC; we have one loss.  If we lose to either EMU, Fiami, Kent or UMass, we'll have two losses.  If we beat both BG & Buffalo, they'll have one loss apiece, assuming they don't lose to anyone else.  They meet each other at the end of the season, so the winner of that game would only have one loss while we and the loser of that game would have two.  The BG-Buffalo winner would go to Detroit; we'd get to watch on ESPN.  We basically have to win out unless BG & Buffalo pick up a loss to someone other than Ohio.

I believe they both play Toledo. That should be a tough game. They Buffalo at home on a Tues night, and Bowling Green away on Sat.

In the short term it will help to focus on EMU but I wish the Buffalo game was in two weeks and not three because after two straight wins the edge will wear off. Aside from that Detroit is pure fantasy talk at this point. The team has got to win EMU, Miami and Buffalo to even begin the conversation here. I don't want to be too negative but if you look at CMU losing 38-17 at home Toledo the same result should have been there at Ohio last week. At least a comfortable two score win.

we had to win out before CMU, nothing changes. If either BG or UB wins out it means we lost to the one that won out. We would each have 1 loss but they would have the tie breaker. Sure, we lose the opportunity to be "co" division champ, but why cares?

the mission is still the same- win out.

We didn't HAVE to win out before CMU.  We could've lost one of the other games, but beaten both BG & Buffalo -- each would've had one loss, but we would've had the tiebreaker on both of them.  As it is, now we have a loss and they don't.  We NOW have to win out.

Looking on the bright side, Ohio has a game this week they can go out and win.

Maybe it's best to just take them one at a time.  Control what you can control and play your best.

Go Bobcats!
