Ok first question uniforms. Why was Central Michigan allowed to wear dark jerseys? Isn't the visiting team suppose to wear white if the home team is wearing colored jerseys?

Second Attendance. 23826 Really? The two endzone sections were only half full and the student section wasn't close to full.  How did they come up with 23826? I guess maybe the guy who counted heads at Akron last week worked the gates at Peden today.  Must have been tickets sold.

The only section not full was the visitors' section. There were a lot of people on the hill. It sounds like a pretty accurate figure to me.

They can wear any unies that are not similar enough in color to the home team's so that the refs aren't confused.  We wore a rich hunter green while they had a putrid gold -- not enough to confuse the refs any more than they already were.  If it had been too confusing, it would've cost them 15 yds at the beginning of each half.  That's what happened to Arky St earlier this year when they wore dark greys that were too close to Auburn's blue.

The student section not full? By 15 minutes pregame, there wasn't a seat over there and students had to go sit on the hill. If anything, I thought the attendance was lower than what it looked like to me.

I guessed 24K while at the game - so pretty accurate announcement if you ask me!

24,000 is the capacity and that includes the Hill, no way we near that number. Attendance figures everywhere is a joke! All one needs to do is look at the Pittsburgh game and that crowd is falling farther down on the list every year, yet we've had maybe one crowd since that approached that one.

Have you seen the aerial shot of that game? Lots of empty seats in the corners...visitors area was 1/2 empty. Only reason that crowd seemed so big is because there wasn't anything like it in the previous 40 years.

And I've been told with the hill that it could fit up to 26,000 (hill can seat 2,000-2,500). I'll buy that...

I actually have about 20 prints in my mancave from that shoot of the areial.  I'd sumerise that the difference in attendance is a new regime who's doing the guessing on figures.

From ohiobobcats.com  "In 2001, a $2.8 million project removed the track, lowered the playing surface and increased the capacity to 24,000."  The sign posted by the gate for occupancy states 24,000

What game did you attend? You obviously were not inside Peden at kickoff.

Chris, Chris, Chris...paid attendance has been used for years in most venues.  So the no shows who bought tickets still count.  We always have a significant number of no shows.

Agreed. I figured it could be ask high as 24.8K-25K even...the hill was pretty congested, and both main grandstands were completely full.

We all realize it's tickets sold (and we get a lot of no-shows, especially in the family pack corner)...but we don't flat-out lie like most of the other MAC schools. Most of those numbers are an absolute joke.

Yes I was there.. from kick off till the final whistle..  I was in Section 117 at the top. That section wasn't even half full at anytime during the entire day. Neither was the Family Section or the other endzone section.

I agree with what Jeff said it was tickets sold not exact attendants.

I did find some capacity numbers online. The original side sections seat 12,000, The Philips Club seating is 2000, The two endzone sections seat 7000 or 3,500 each, There is a couple hundred seats in the Touchdown club and who knows the cut off for the hill. Plus there are people in the press box and I do believe players coaches refs concession workers etc are counted in attendance.

Of course it's tickets sold. The reason that Ohio's numbers aren't crazy is that most people who buy them actually plan to attend. At some schools they are not able to meet their minimum required attendance to stay FBS, so they get some business to buy 10,000 tickets, and give them away, most of which are never used. The result is a claimed attendance of 15,000 with 3,000 in the stands.

If it's tickets sold, then I'm actually in attendance at every game even though I'm 2700 miles away.

I did not know that!

I think you must have missed something, Chris. Here's a couple of photos. You can see most of the Family section and you can see it's basically full. A few people missing and I'm sure not everyone is in their seats at any given time. The best shot of the student section I have shows the end up until the top couple of rows and there are few open spots. As usual, this changed in the second half, but really, a majority of the students stuck around.

Monroe, we old timers feel your presence every Saturday in Peden.  Keep the good vibes coming this way.

Monroe, in your stead, I will be yelling during the games, "Run more Beau up the middle!"

I think of Monroe every time the TE catches a pass.

Even if OUr 23,000 is 18,000, Akron's 19,000 is 6,000. And EMU's 15,000 is 500.

So if someone's going to put this record on, at least have the decency to play all 120+ tracks.

Every team's got a story about attendance.

Good point. But I'd bet the farm that there were at least 21-22,000 bodies there Saturday...it was packed as tight as ever on the Tower side.

If this was the basketball board, someone would have yelled at Monroe already for not attending the game and helping to provide more accurate figures. Shame shame.
