As someone pointed out a few days ago, Lane Kiffin is available and would be a perfect fit for Oxford Tech.  He seems to have all the required skills and personality attributes: snotty, preppy, better-than-thou attitude, cheater, and a strong belief in nepotism.

"Cheater? That's a clown accusation. I may be a product of nepotism, incompetent, disloyal and petulant, but I let my assistants do the dirty work."

Agreed...if they actually cheated, maybe they'd win a game on occasion. In something other than hockey.

Lee Owens could return to the MAC!

So they did not fire their costume designer?

It's not just a name that gets a player on a campus. It's facilities. It's gameday campus visits. It's culture. And not culture all-time-winningest-15-MAC-titles-cradle-of-coaches-old-farts-remembering-the-good-old-days. Culture NOW.

And right now, Miami is a Dorothea Lange picture.

Makes perfect sense. But it reminds me of a Charlie interview.

I wish I could remember the specifics of either the interview or article, but part of it was around Charlie Coles' recruiting. And I'm probably missing lots of it, but they did their best on recruits during home visits, building relationships with parents, etc, basically everything except having them see games & Millet Hall. And I think there was mention of a fair amount of his team that committed without seeing Miami in action at home. For that empty 'arena' it makes perfect sense. But to me never made sense for a commit to not see what they're getting into. Just thought that was really interesting and smart for them.

But also to Pete's point that it is not just a name that does the job - look at Akron. (Even know they do have the facilities.)

Oxford is pretty close to Cincinnati and we have malls here.........

They used to beat us all the time -- look at the overall series record.  Therefore, since they have sucked forever, they must have cheated back then.  This is infallible logic that not even that Certified Pigskin Analyst Monroe could refute!

Also, on a related note, one time Bo Schembechler said that we could play football in Athens until hell froze over and we still wouldn't deserve the MAC championship.  This was after Kent State forfeited a game they had won against us because they had used a ineligible player.  Miami beat us that year, which after the forfeit, was Ohio's only conference loss that year (1967).  As a result of the forfeit we were co-champions.  See how you can't think about Miami without thinking about cheating!

Reports have the buyout in the $900K range. Money Miami doesn't really have.

I think it would be pretty small time for Treadwell to seek the buyout.

He's been one of the voters for the USA Today poll.  Wonder who'll take his place.

Thinking about this some more, its fun to joke about but I don't want Lane Kiffin at Fiami, or anywhere else in the MAC East. That boy's got potential, and if he decided to mature a bit and stay put at a lower profile job for the long term, he could have a LOT of success. I for one don't want to risk Fiami having a lot of success.

I don't care if the Redchickens have a lot of success as long as OHIO has more.

I'd think many of us would argue Miami is a notable exception

It wasn't easy for me to include Fiami (spit) in that statement, either.
