Whats the chance he stays healthy so we hear on MNF..."Michael Mitchell, safety, Ohio University Bobcats"

Can I hear that at SOME POINT PLZZZZ?

Do I need to hope that he either says only "OHIO"... or says "THE Ohio University"

I just hope he doesn't say Covington Catholic or Highlands High School.

Congrats to Mike! Maybe Travis Carrie can get drafted by the panthers and we can have a 1-2 duo of OU players in Carolina's Secondary.

Vs. Balt. last night: 8 solo tackles; 2 assists.  Don't know if got beat on any plays, but it looks like he had a fantastic night.

In the second half, he got a 15-yard penalty on a late hit and Gruden was getting on him. But in the first half, he flashed in front of a receiver that caused a Flacco misthrow and a pick six.

Had a chance to look at ESPN's play-by-play page for the game.  Six of the tackles were on passes and four on runs.  The longest pass was 27 yds, four were 10-15 yds, none went for TDs.  He had tackles on three consecutive plays in Baltimore's opening drive.

Its no fault of Mike's but several of those tackles should have been made closer to the line of scrimmage, by the line or line backers. The panther's leaky D helped him pad his stats nicely-

According to ESPN box score, Mike had no tackles or assist in the game today.  Is he hurt?   I thought he was starting?

He was inactive due to a calf injury.

Mitchell was the starter at strong safety coming out of camp, but hurt his calf.  Panthers then signed Quintin Mikell to the roster who started the first two games.  Godfrey was starting at free safety but blew out his Achilles last week.  So if he can stay healthy, the plan is Mitchell starts at strong and Mikell at free.  Lord knows we need the help.

Mitchell started today as the Panthers shut out the Giants.  He lit up a Giant receiver towards the end of the game.  Huge it.  I'll try to find a photo.

He just picked off Carson Palmer in the end zone to stop an Arizona drive.  Nice grab.

 via cc cat's link:

"After playing in high school for the Highlands Bluebirds, Mitchell was modestly recruited. The biggest school going after him was Kentucky. He went on an official visit to a football game in 2004, where the Wildcats got beaten by Ohio University.

“I was like, ‘Where the heck is Ohio University?’ “ Mitchell recalled.

He soon found out that Ohio University was in Athens, Ohio, and he ended up going to school there and playing well for the Bobcats and coach Frank Solich. Mitchell was the rare player out of the Mid-American Conference to get picked in the second round of the NFL draft after not getting invited to the scouting combine. Oakland chose him No.47 overall in 2009 after he ran a 4.39 40-yard dash at Ohio’s Pro Day"

One win at a time. I wonder how many guys we've signed recently were saying that after they saw us on National TV, beating Penn State?

Very, very good to to see the MM Missile doing well.

I believe that many pundits pegged him as the worst 2nd round pick ever.  Way to show 'em OHIO style.

I know he wasn't who you were referring to, but I wonder what Jerkstreet said then, and thinks now, about MM.  He probably had syncope when a player from CMU was the overall top draft pick last year.

MM could become one of the league's great villains:

Too bad he's not still a Raider.

Bradford injury/play is at the 2:10 mark

http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap20000002...

It was a push more than hit - Mitchell swears he did not know Bradford was hurt on play when he celebrated.

gosh, by my count that makes 5 former 'cats on NFL teams (Zastudil, Cohen, Brazill, Posey and Mitchell).  That sure doesn't hurt the program...
