Knee. Sucks for him that he'll be sidelined during what appears to be a breakout year.

The article makes it sound like he hasn't been involved in the offense as much this year. While that might be true statistically, in the few bits and pieces of BG games I have caught this year he seemed to draw a lot of attention from opposing defenses. Anybody followed BG close enough to confirm?

And Fluellen got hurt in Toledo's win over Navy last week; he's questionable this week.  Might be that each team will be down a key part of their offenses when they meet Saturday.

I'm not sure the reasons for it, but he fell to being the third-leading receiver from being tops last year. In particular, his numbers the last few games have been low. Don't know enough about them to know what happened there.

My sympathy for the injured.

But I don't want to hear injuries as an excuse.

Gallon will be missed. Should return next year ready to go. Two reasons for his slight change downward in numbers are a strong running attack in most every game this year from multiple backs and a change in QB. Johnson moves the ball around quite a bit. Gallon's replacement Cohen has played pretty well in limited duty. He caught five balls for 50 in relief of Gallon against SEC DBs in our last outing.

For most teams, the loss of one guy- even a very good player like Gallon or Fluellen- shouldn't be an excuse of any kind. The MAC may not be the SEC but you need some serviceable back ups. It hurts to lose anyone and you feel for the player. But it would be the proverbial next man up. Every BG person expects Fluellen to play Saturday by the way.

Good luck and see you up in BG in November.

Go Falcons!

Just curious, is their message board wanting to fire the strength coach?

If you are talking about BG's strength coach, that is a big NO. Coach Hourigan and his entire staff are quite well regarded by our football coaches and student-athletes- of all kinds. Very good man. Tough but good. I don't know any fan who knows Hourigan and has watched us go against  tough fronts (SEC etc) the last couple years who would say differently. Injuries happen.

The question about firing the strength coach was a joke. Whenever we get an injury here, a certain subset of posters go off on how its evidence that the S&C coach needs fired, regardless whether or not their injury could have been prevented by better strength and conditioning.

I'm in on it now. Good luck. And, especially, good luck to the embattled Ohio strength coach!

I guess it isn't just here. Here's a thread from the WMU board regarding their injuries this year, which are comparable to Ohio's last year (15 starters currently out). Third post reads:

The strength and condition department needs to be evaluated this year. Our coaching hasn't been great, but this definitely hasn't helped.

Dave Clawson has the OL built up like he has the DL if he has the running game you're saying. Its not looking good when Ohio can't use its traditional advantage in the trenches against a MAC opponent.
