Meant to mention this the other day.....WVU AD Oliver Luck is supposedly the leading candidate for the soon-to-be-open Texas AD job. Schaus was among the finalists for the WVU job when they hired Luck, and I would have to believe would be among the finalists again if he wanted to move on.

Way to spoil everyone's good time C Money with this practical news that could actually happen. Damn the truth tellers! Shame on you.

In all seriousness, what else could Schaus do here that he hasn't already?

Sweet 16 in basketball? Check
Winning bowl games? Check
Dynamite women's volleyball program? Check
Expanded the fan base? Check
Sold boat loads of tickets? Check
Raised straight cash homie? Check
New indoor practice facility? Check

It may be time...

Why are we talking about this? Losing our AD is not an excuse.

His dad was the AD at WVU for many years. I think Jim has done a great job and this could be a very real possibility if Luck moves on.

Not only is losing our AD no excuse, but lets take a closer look at his so-called "accomplishments"

1) Sweet-16 in basketball? Sure, but who'd we beat in the 1st (round of 64) and 2nd (round of 32) to get to the Sweet-16? Michigan and South Florida, two schools that BOTH lost to some mid-major conference team that made it to the Dance despite losing to BOTH 19-17 Toledo and 14-18 EMU (both teams' season ending records). #Conference scheduling is irrelevant, no excuse

2) Winning bowl Games? So what! Before beating Utah State and UL-Monroe, Ohio dropped bowl contests against Troy, Marshall, Southern Miss, Richmond, and West Texas State. #Decades am no excuse

3)... (I'm getting tired of writing this tongue-in-cheek post so I'm just going to end it)

OHIO & Frank have been very very good to Jim Schaus.
personally, I'd hate to see him leave, but such is the nature of D1 AD careers...

Personal opinion is that Alumni Varsity 110 & Aaron Romero have contributed more to OHIO WVB success than anyone not directly connected to OHIO athletics.

Schaus has done what appears to be a very good job here. I don't know what part he played in getting the IPF money, but if he played a big part, then that will be his lasting legacy.
I am very impressed with his high visibility to all the few athletic events that I am able to attend. He always seems very friendly and welcoming. I know that's part of his job, but he does it well IMO.
If he leaves, I wish him the best in his future endeavors, and I mean that,

If you're going to give credit to Schaus for things, how about the IPF? How about being at or near the top in attendance? How about a sound financial picture for athletics despite cuts in funding from the state?
