Not sure which message board category this fell under, so since this one is still being used often, I'll pose my thought here:

Just saw a tweet that Texas has narrowed its AD search down to Oliver Luck (WVU) and Steve Patterson (Arizona St.) Since one of those two will have an opening in the very near future, what's the chance that Jim Schaus is considered for either of those jobs?

It appears that the WVU job is the only one that he really covets.  He came to Ohio because it was closer to Morgantown and his aging parents than Wichita.  The only thing closer to Morgantown with a D1 program would be Morgantown itself.  So, yes, if Luck goes, Jim will be in the mix for the WVU job.  I don't think we have to worry about ASU.

Maybe you should map quest Pittsburgh to Morgantown and re-evaluate that comment.

The WVU job isn't what it was back when the school was dominating the Big East. Jim Schaus would have to go on the road to Kansas and Oklahoma all the time for that job but that is another aspect that would help at WVU the fact that he was AD at Wichita State. Secondly with the accomplishments at Ohio there isn't much left to do at the school. The apparel contracts are in place. He hired a marketing company for ticket sales. Raised money to get improvements to the Convo and the IPF. If he can get a 100% raise out of moving to WVU then why not.

I stand corrected.  We are the second closest D1 program to Morgantown.  See how easy it is to admit one's mistakes?

Everyone makes mistakes, sometimes, and they are no big deal when you admit them and move on. When you lose people's respect is when you try to distract and change the subject to avoid admitting mistakes.

By the way, I'm not sure Pitt is happy with their AD, so that job might open at some point.

You're not implying that the marvelous AD who rescued Nebraska football from "falling into mediocrity" has now fallen out of favor with the PITT crowd are you L.C.? The Cornhuskers haven't been the same since they were "Pedersoned" and to be quite truthful PITT football has been no better than mid-level MAC quality since PITT hired him back.

Well, if he does leave or is heaved from Pitt, there would be at least one good side to it.  Ohio might get Pitt back on the schedule again.  There was no way we'd play Pitt again in football while that dude was AD.  I suppose, as BTC so astutely pointed out, a Pitt opening could be appealing to Schaus for reasons of geography.  That would be the downside.

Not holding my breath on that. We've had no games against Miami FL, Texas Tech, or Fresno St. lately.

Would be nice to get games like that, but not at the expense of one of the most important cogs in the Ohio Athletics machine.
