And to rub salt in the wounds, Ricky Pringle -- a walk-on transfer from Ohio who never played a down for the Bobcats -- just ran 44 yds untouched for a TD for Toledo against Buffalo.  I think he has more yds in that one play than Beau has had all month.

Will we ever get the real story on Tettleton? Something happened midway through last season. Something. The way he took that sack at Miami to end that game and the BCS dream is just burnished in my mind.
He had as many yards in penalties tonight as he has rushing on the season.

Apparently, Frank's teams don't like cold weather. Practicing indoors should help with that, right?

We used to be prepared and executed.  Forget both of those things lately.

The QB is the leader.  Some would say he quit on the Cats at beginning of the season when he decided he was not going to run the ball this year and risk injury.  Couldn't take the chance of messing up his numbers at the NFL Combine.

Well, TT, your passing numbers and mechanics don't look that sweet.  You pouted in the Miami game when you had to come back in in 4th Q.  Now, back to back poor performances, and your leadership looks weak as you mail it in.

Frank, play the guys who want to always play hard for team and for Ohio University...not for themselves.  If you can't decipher that, or you no longer care to, then make the decision whether you want to still coach college ball.

Go Cats.   (at least the Bobcat basketball team represented tonight against the Nuts.  Hard to beat the Buckeyes and the refs (51 FTs), but I was impressed by Stevie and the JUCO from Senegal.  Great energy and never-say-die attitude.  Going to be a fun year for basketball.

Another example of how its not a talent issue. Its a coaching issue and the staff at Ohio is in lower half of the conference. Bowling Green has a better HC. All the teams above Ohio in the standings have better HC's. The staff at Ohio has won because its Ohio and it will attract good players. There is little they've done above and beyond to get the kids to win football games.

Possibly the first time I've ever heard someone say playing at Ohio attracts good players.  The coaching staff attracted the players and got the players to come here. I think in many cases many of those players played above themselves and as a team.

If Solich wasn't the name on the HC then I don't think we would see some of these players in Athens.

Certainly you're entitled to your opinion, but I disagree. All the coaches above Ohio in the standings are certainly not better coaches. I don't buy that. I do agree there is a problem on this team that is unknown to outsiders, but I'm not ready to throw the coaching staff under the bus unless/until I know more about what's actually going on.

You've seen buildings implode, right?  To me that's what you've been seeing in Ohio football the last two games.  TT had a solid shot at achieving greatness.  He was the foundation but has crumbled and the team has collapsed around and on top of him.  That seems like a lot to heap on a QB, but if you've ever played the game, then you know just how much influence a QB has on the performance of teammates.

The question remains: Why the implosion?  Here, based on observations, I can only speculate.  But those observations suggest that a rift has opened between HC/OC and TT.   He has lost confidence in them or they  in him or both.  That suggests a breakdown in open and honest communication - a willingness by both parties to listen and absorb and then act in a mutually beneficial way.

During the next few days, could the rift - if it exists - be closed?  Yes, but such a closing is difficult - in  any environment. Reason: Achieving a closing requires both parties to concede that significant change is necessary, and he/she who finds major change easy resides among a small minority.

+1 And I appreciate your not speculating about team problems.

Interesting speculation. However, based upon my observation TT might be better all round if he had two healthy OTs, Donte Foster at 100% and there might be some of his own decisions he might be second guessing. I know people want to pin blame, but, since I can't do so with any certainty I will wait to see what shakes out.

My only question - having been to the basketball game and not seeing any of the football game - Did we get a punt blocked?  All I see is that special teams were evidently bad.

We nearly got one punt blocked. On another attempt, Venham was forced to scramble for the first down, which he did not get. I have to assume it was not a design fake. The pressure forced Venham to run.

Blaming injuries is bunk.  We've had some but nothing out of the ordinary--nothing that would excuse the 79-3 over the last two games.

There are problems on offense, at least.

Maybe I'm blind, but I see   N O T H I N G   different from game to game.  Scouting us is a piece of cake.  Beau upt the middle on our first play.  Well that set the tone.  Same play on a third and one later in the game (2nd quarter?) didn't work.

Screen passes (not flanker screens...true screen passes), hurry up offense, two back sets, jet sweeps, 'inside' jet sweeps, read option with TT and the running back both heading towards the wing....I see none of these.  None.

I know that it's not snap my fingers easy.  But the lack of imagination--brainpower--is appalling.

There are lots of defensive problems, too.  They had a great first half vs Buffalo and have sucked since.  The zone is being easily beaten by the opposition's blocking schemes and pass routes.  The line is getting rolled over by bigger and more athletic O lines.  The linebackers haven't been wrapping up and the DBs are blowing coverage and just plain getting beat (BGSUcks had a receiver catch an underthrown pass in the middle of  three DBs for a TD).  The wheels have completely come off the wagon -- offensively, defensively & special teams (although we can't complain too much about Yaz because he's scored our only points the last two games -- 1/1 on FGs -- and I don't think he's screwed up the three KOs we've had this month).

29 rushes for 56 yards (includes sacks probably), we passed for 116 yards.

Has a linebacker made a solo tackle in weeks...anyone else on D done so.

Where's the threads about expanding the stadium to 35,000? It was a bad idea at the start of the season a worse idea now.
