Oklahoma State is putting a QR code on the back of player helmets to give to NIL collective.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/40929681...

Made me wonder if there is/would be a way to give directly to players for great plays. I can imagine setting aside $50/$100 every game I'm watching on TV at home and as a player makes a great play (block, tackle, pass deflection, etc) I could give that player an allotted amount. My $5 or $10 for a good play may not be a gamechanger, but if ten or so people were doing that, it would be a fun little chunk of change for a player at the end of a game. Is there any place doing something similar?

As I understand it, which to be honest I'm not the most well versed in NIL rules and regulations, but NIL allows the player to be paid by 3rd parties as a result of their performance on the field and/or their name recognition. It doesn't allow fans to pay players directly in an official capacity like you're describing.

Fans aren’t, the QR goes to the collective, which then goes to that kid! Got to love smart lawyers.

Half the time I can't get my phone to properly scan a QR on the scoreboard in Peden. How are fans actually going to scan the QR on a helmet on the field?
