I say no way, even if Bobcats beat UMass. Unless there just aren't enough bowl-eligible teams to play in all the games, why would any bowl want Ohio? And how well would Bobcat fans travel to a bowl game now?

Who cares. Obviously not the starting QB. After BG it wasn't, "Let's work hard and win a bowl game." It was, "Have fun last two games."  A bowl game would be three games so obviously the redshirt-senior QB did not care about another bowl game.

Chances of beating UMass are lower than playing in a bowl game.

How many people here actually want to see us play in a bowl game, and if so would anybody go? The results of the past 3 games is worse than last year and there will be plenty of bowl eligible teams this year. No worries, no bowl. We need to make some changes and the winter would be a good chance to work on that.

The chances are better than you think. We currently sit 6th in the MAC. The MAC is guaranteed 5 bowl games this year due to other conferences not fulfilling their bowl-eligibility commitments. However, with NIU currently very close to being ranked in the top 15, there is a chance that, if they jump Fresno State in the BCS rankings, that they will go to a BCS bowl, thus bumping us up into that 5th MAC bowl.

So theoretically, if NIU wins convincingly next week, and we can manage to not lose to UMass (I know, it seems like a stretch now), the chances are high that we could get into one of the non-MAC affiliated bowls.

Possibilities that I've heard for bowl locations right now are New Mexico, San Diego, and St. Petersburg.

It would be nice to see these seniors get a W and go out the right way in a bowl. Plus we get money to play in a bowl and it's free publicity of our success so can't say I'm not pulling for this. I would be ecstatic if we could go 8-5 and get 3 straight bowl wins

Absolutely. They continue to work their tails off for this program, they deserve a bowl. They all seem to care so much about this program.

Oh wait....

If we were to somehow miraculously get an invite, whether to accept should be left to a player vote.  If they actually want to represent Ohio on national TV again this season, they should be reminded -- every day -- of the cost to the university to send them there, and that they damn better have their heads straight when the hit the field.

My understanding from past bowls is we will actually bring in more money by not going to a bowl (conference cut). But I agree it is publicity...just not free.

If by publicity, you mean being embarrassed on national TV by a combined 100 points (123-23 in 3 games on ESPN) along with antics like sitting down in the backfield and being jumped over by a lineman on a punt fake, I'll pass on the chance at publicity.

The terms Bowl Eligible and Bowl Deserving have never been more polar opposites.

This highlights the absurdity of being "bowl eligible" at 6-6 or 7-5.  I'll support OUr guys if they made it to a bowl game, but the idea of them actually going to a bowl game with a 7-5 record is simply ridiculous.  8 wins is what should be deemed "bowl eligible".  Gotta love ESPN TV money.
