We need this one in so many ways, perhaps biggest of which is recruiting.

Yes, I'm sure we are all frustrated. I'm pulling for these kids to end the season on a positive note. Just play hard. Hope for the best. We all had big expectations, but lets start something we can build on. Let's beat Kent then go from there. There will be plenty of time for introspection when it's over.

I think we all want the team to succeed -- 8-4 is a damn sight better than 6-6, and is more likely to get us to a bowl.  But it's bewildering how this team has consistently been rolled over this year, not only in the losses to L'ville, Buffalo & BG but also by CMU & EMU.  The one thing all five teams have in common is a big O line that pretty much had its way with our D.  Kent brings the same thing, so with quality runners like Martin & Archer, Tuesday night could be really ugly.

It's the attitude, too.  Each of the four losses had one thing in common: the team played like they didn't want to be there.  That was true for the first half of the CMU game, the second half of the Buffalo game and all of the L'ville & BG games.  I don't mind T2 putting the game in perspective for the grand scheme of things, so long as he doesn't bring it onto the field. He might be.

For whatever reason he hasn't been running, it has made our offense less effective.  He needs to be the type of player he was two years ago.  If he can't be, we need to get Vick & Sprague some reps.

But he also needs help from his team.  He wasn't getting much help from his receivers at BG, and I'm not sure whether they were getting their cues from him or his frustration was because of them.  This team just needs to decide how they want to spend December -- prepping for a bowl or watching the tube.

The team has a bowl game on the line to play for plus a chance to beat Kent State in front of the fans. Central Michigan could finish 6-6 and they've already beat us. That is our competition for the last MAC team in.

This team has shown me little in the way of speed, size, spirit, outstanding play, and, lately, tackling technique.  I realize that some of these (size, speed) aren't exactly things that can be coached or otherwise enhanced..

Leaving all that behind, here's what I want to see for the rest of the year:  I want this team to channel it's inner Patrick Tafua.

Anyone who saw Patrick play saw a real O H I O guy, a guy who played with fire and gave it his all.

That's OHIO to me.

I want to see OHIO on the field.

My hope for this game is that the players re-focus. I hope they put aside the criticism they get from the media and fans. I hope they don't play to prove anything to anyone. I hope they instead play for themselves. The Seniors have a long and successful track record here, spanning five years, and they should be proud of that track record. They have no need to prove anything to anyone. Instead, they should play for their own pride, and make sure they finish their career here on a positive note.  They want to end their career here in a way that they can look back on and say "We may not have won a MAC title, but we can be proud of what we did accomplish".

Good luck, Seniors. Go get Kent.

Can we switch out with someone else in the MAC and not be on ESPN2?  Not sure I want America to see this team.

I think players always play for themselves first while wanting to look good to everyone else. They will continue to do that, I doubt they don't think about how they look to their families, friends and yes, media and fans. They're human, they care about those other people too.

We struggle against Kent's defense even when we are clicking on offense. And we sure ain't close to clicking now.

TV is TV. Any TV time will help the recruiting process.  Yes a loss is not good but telling a future recruit we don't play on TV is worse......

My advice for you is "Don't Tune in".   For the record.  I think you will miss a very good game.   A little birdie has told me there has been a come to jesus meeting this week and that the players are  excited and practicing with emotion this week.

Monroe mentioned speed . . . which reminded me, is our speedster DAZzle-them Patterson going to be back this week?  I think he could make a big difference.  I'd actually like him best at RB.

I actually have two different conflicts with this game, but I've finally got my priorities straightened out and I'll be there in my usual spot in the Phillips Section shouting like a maniac and rooting for the 'Cats to get out of their funk.  I'm still hoping for a bowl game, realizing that even with two wins to end the season, Ohio's probably a long shot.

MS - you hit on something that I've thought about several time during and since Buffalo and BG - play like Patrick Tafau and the teams of 2009 and 2010.    It seemed that the players just didn't want to be at BG.   You could always see intensity  and desire in Tafua and the 09 team on the field and  on the sideline.  When watching the sideline at BG,  I felt like the players showed little emotion .

I have not been less excited about a game in Peden in about 10 years.  As always, I'll be there, but I have grown weary of watching the team just go through the motions.  I really hope they right the ship because the Seniors have had way too much success to finish their careers like this.

If it's our choice, do we go for kicking it off or receiving to start?

Any thoughts on lineup changes we'll see tonight?

Arkley has had a couple stories the past three or four days mentioning the elevated energy the team is showing in practice.  Hope they bring it over to the game tonight.  They need to come out with a sense of urgency and desire.

Not quite sure why we did not expand the playbook earlier in the season.  Very dynamic play calling.  Do they have an award for Offensive Coordinator of the Year in the MAC or  nationally?

After the Kent State touchdown my four year old son asked me why we don't score those.

How cute.

3rd and 6 from the 35 and you don't run and go for it on 4th down.

The bench TT and let FS call the plays.

This is some seriously bad football. Defense needs to get it together.
