Watching the Iowa-Neb game and heard the announcers say that if Neb wins today Pelini would have won at least 9 games in each of his first six seasons at Neb.  And they also mentioned that he hasn't gotten word from the AD as to whether he'll be back next year.

And why shouldn't he be fired? His record, not including today is only 57-23, and Solich was fired for 58-19. Besides, firing Solich worked out well for them. I wonder if they could get Callahan back?

Once they start the coaching merry-go-round, it's hard to stop it.

Plus, Solich was never caught on tape saying the thing negative about Nebraska like Pelini did

After hiring Callahan, Pederson goes to Pitt and hires Mike Haywood from Miami and is on his third head coach!

I'm guessing they didn't have a $7 million plus buy out with Solich. Frankly, I would keep him one more year to see if the teams youth and maybe fewer injuries can make a difference next year.

Nebraska hasn't been worth a damn since Pederson jettisoned Solich. Pelini has become an embarrassment and did himself no favors with his after game presser today. The guy is unhinged.

I didn't see that, but maybe he's wanting to get fired, take the $7 mil and move on as a defensive coordinator .

Among other things, he said that an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty against him was a "chickensh*t call".  He also went after the media -- in a pretty calm manner (no Les Miles) -- over their coverage of him and the team.  When asked about his job status, he said "they can fire me if they want" but he felt that the program was going in the right direction.

Pelini needs to hire a PR consultant, but it may be too late.

Bo and his brother Carl cannot get out of their own way! Being a successful coach and leader of people is more than how many wins you have. And these guys just fail to see the bigger picture. 1st Carl embarrasses the program and is asked to move along, and then Bo is weekly entertainment every fall.

+1. With you on this. Bo needs to be working in the NFL. JMHO. I expect some Nebraskans will disagree.

An NFL player would laugh in his face how he acts. He needs to go back to Austintown-Fitch or rejoin Tressel on some staff.

Yes. He is fortunate to have the Nebraska job. He is who he is. Like the Situation would say, don't expect him to be someone other than Bo Pelini. Likely he will wear out his welcome. There is "More Than Winning."

Bo isn't a horrible head coach, but he's a better defensive coordinator. He's also better when he can operate out of the direct focus of the media, since he's a loose cannon at times. I have no idea what Nebraska will do, and that's up to them. If they keep firing winning coaches, though, the price tag for hiring a coach is going to go up. Someone who knows they are most likely going to get fired in 4-6 years is going to want a nice check for those 4-6 years.

But on the other hand, with this increase in compensation and resources you see, also comes increased demand for results. And 9wins is not the platform of success it used to be with the increased number of games, just as 20 wins is no longer what it once was in basketball.

And I would agree, the guy needs to not be around a microphone or a camera.

Actually, instead if a PR consultant, he needs counseling. Passive agressive or what other mental condition?

I just watched the highlights on SC. His outburst to the refs was uncalled for, but his press conference reaction was even worse. If I were a Nebraska fan, I'd be embarrassed to have him on Tom Osborne Field.

Bo may need counseling but, hey, so do many on this board:)  Me included.  At least NEB has won a few Conference Championships in the last 45 years.  I think the last one (1999?) may have been won by FS?  Shall we start a list of reasons why he has not won one at OHIO?  Then, wish for all those things to be delivered on Christmas day and used next season?

So much they do there. 67 Football First Team Academic All-Americans, 35 second or third team since 1970. 307 Academic All Americans in all sports. They expect "More Than Winning."

the problem with your argument is that Solich probably should not have been fired. Looks like he's getting another year and will probably be in a short leash which could get interesting .

My comment was tongue in cheek. Nebraska will do whatever they feel like, and in this case, they feel like giving Bo another year, apparently.

Well since the AD has announced his support, 2 new verbals , including a 4 star DT with offers from OSU, Alabama, Oregon and half the free world AQ teams. Anyway Bo staying has some advantages for N.

Tell me if I am reading too much into this. Bo states "they can fire me if they want." When Bo says "they" I get that there is not a tight relationship between the coach and administration. When we begin using "them/they" about our bosses, well, since Pederson took Nebraska pro they have lost something Devaney, Osborne and Solich spent about forty years building.
