Assuming that all 67 of the currently bowl-eligible AQ teams (even the 6-6 ones) get an invite to a bowl, there'll be three slots available.  Buffalo and WKU are 8-4, so they should fill two of them.  That leaves one slot for the three seven-win teams: Toledo, Ohio and Colo St (7-6), if they don't get a MWC bid.  In that case, I'd guess that Toledo gets the nod over Ohio because of their wins over BG & Buffalo and because they travel better.  But it'll also depend on which bowls are open and whether the MAC has secondary contracts with them.

If Ohio does get into a bowl, I hope our guys see this as a chance for redemption after their miserable November showing.

My opinion on the order of MAC teams deserving bowl games:

1. Bowling Green - MAC Champs
2. NIU - (8-0)
3. Ball State - (7-1)
4. Buffalo - (6-2)
5. Toledo - (5-3) Wins @BG and @CMU
6. Central Michigan - (5-3) Win @Ohio
7. Ohio (4-4) Wins against none of the top 6 (0-3)

To me, the strength of 1-7 is easy to differentiate and any deviation from this order would be unfair.

A very logical position.

Just playing devils advocate here, but non conference game wins may be just as important.  Winning in your conference is one thing, winning outside is another.  Here are each of the FBS wins for MAC teams:

The non-conference schedule  was easy this year.  Also they had SEVEN home games. They had a favorable MAC schedule missing NIU, Toledo and Ball State.  They still managed to lose to CMU and Kent State at home.  The administration did every thing in their power to make it an easy trip to a bowl this year and the players still managed to mess it up.  No way do they deserve a bowl.  They should not be rewarded for a second consecutive .500 year against the MAC.  This was a mediocre football team. Despite a lot of experience Solich couldn't get this team to finish above .500 in a down MAC east with Kent State, Miami, UMass and Akron still rebuilding.  How did we manage to get out recruited by Buffalo these past few years.  A few mediocre recruiting classes killed the momentum we had. Instead of a bowl trip this coaching staff needs to hit the recruiting trail because these last two teams didn't cut it against the MAC.  8-9 last 17 games against the MAC with several poor performances In second half of games. Perhaps the team isn't in great physical conditioning. Offensive line was soft this year. Need to recruit some tough guys. These guy we had this year were too soft. Need to  lite a fire under those guys in the offseason to spend more time in the weight room.  

Deserving or not, I'd sure like to see us in a bowl game.  From a personal standpoint, O H I O is my team.  From the team's standpoint, we can use the player development that practices and the bowl game would give us....and a bowl W would lessen though not nearly erase, the stain.

If Rutgers wins -- which they're about to -- they go to a bowl.  AAC has six bowl contracts but only five teams (including Rutgers) to fill them.  Rutgers goes, no matter what, probably to the Compass Bowl; it has the 5th pick among AAC teams.

People say "we don't travel well" but I really don't think we travel as poorly as people assume. Compared to other MAC schools, we travel pretty good.

Word on the street is we should know something by noon…...
