I just watched yet another MAC Football Championship trophy go to another school. I turned 40 this year and Ohio has exactly zero championships in my lifetime. I'm beginning to wonder if I will ever watch the Cats win one. We are the Cubs of the MAC.

I feel the pain 'cause I was at OHIO in 1968 and I fear I will never see another Championship team in my lifetime.  At least you are "only" 40!

FS and Co are on the 9, I mean 10 year plan (at least).  Clawson and Co. did it in 5 after winning 2 games the first year.  And people wonder why the passionate part of the fan base is disappointed.

I was at OHIO in 1968 also.   Just out of curiosity I wonder how many other posters here remember '68.  I know there's Doc, oldkatz, 1st in Convo, and a few others.  Come out of the closet and identify yourselves.  We should start a club:
OLD FARTS FOR A MAC CHAMPIONSHIP, or OFFAMC.

In case Monroe looks at this thread:  Yes, I'm in official apologist mode right now!

Cat Fan, I am in.  It's hard being an old fart OHIO football fan but at least we can say we actually SAW a MAC Championship team.  Just think of all the younger folks that have NEVER had that feeling!

No, I'm pretty sure all us younger folks had that feeling.  It was during the first half of the 2011 MACC...

I've never been happier that I had to work a Friday night than that 2011 MAC Championship game. I DVR'd it, heard how it ended and erased it  before ever viewing.

It's like it never happened. Like having something that erases bad memories without invoking electroshock or Patron Silver.

Sure...if you add 60 years.

They kept talking about how BG had not won the MAC since 1992, like I was supposed to feel sorry for their long drought.

1968, the year of the First "Big Mac" from McDonalds, for .49 cents.

Hey, CatFan, I remember, too, following the team to all the away games. Awesome season - not so much since. I was a student 66-70.

I'm an old fart, too, but I can't say I actually SAW the team, except on sports highlights.  I don't think any of the games were televised that season, or if they were I don't recall seeing them.  I started at Ohio in spring quarter of '70.  Not only did I miss the championship season by a couple football seasons, my first quarter at Ohio was cut short by the riots after Kent.  I would've sought psychiatric help but I didn't have the nickle.

Another old timer who was here (lived in a quad in the Convo) for the '68 football season. Great team with Bryant and Snyder making their connections going 10-0! Fun to watch, getting in free by showing an OHIO student I.D. Card. The Bobcats not only won the MAC but they were nationally ranked! Then came Richmond and the Tangerine Bowl. Took over 40 years to finally win a bowl game. Good things do happen if you are able to wait long enough. As a '71 grad, I'm just hoping I get to see another MAC Championship (and perhaps another national ranking) during my lifetime. I thought both would happen last year with the 7-0 start, but then time was allowed to expire in the fiami game and the season was lost. Just gotta think this 7 win season is a low point, and things will turn around. 'Til then, go Bobcat basketball!

fosslaw, you really pissed this old fart off.  I was at the T-bowl where those spiders ourtscored us.  I think I almost got into an altercation with a spider fan after that game.  Hey, I was young and stupid then.  Now I'm just old and stupid:)

I attended all the home games in 68 and carried a heavy class load at Morrison Elementary.

The #5 Missouri Tigers have not won a conference title since the 40's.  Rice (third best team in Houston) won their first in more than 50 years.

Technically, Mizzou was the 1960 Big 12 Champion- the last time they won it on real time was 1945.

* Kansas would have won the 1960 title, but after found to be using an ineligible player they were forced to forfeit their victories over Missouri and Colorado, which meant that Missouri was awarded the 1960 Big Eight title.

They look like more like the Cubs of college football...Ohio might be likened to the Indians or the Browns.

695--Some, of course, would suggest there's nothing wrong with our 45 year streak...rather that the problem is you turning 4-0.  Stop that.
