It will be interesting to see what he'll want to do in the future, and if there is a school with the right job that would be the right fit for him.

I sort of doubt that he will take over another bottom feeder to revive it, but you never know. He seems like a young 62 year old, but everybody looks young to me.
Turns out he's 61 some site says. No wonder he looks like a young 62.

I interpret this as a case of an honorable man doing the right thing at the right time.  Jim Grobe is nothing if not a class act.  He is a man who knows how to make the best of whatever situation he's in, including this none.

I could see BG's Clawson getting some looks this year.  Especially if he can put on a good show vs NIU this week.   He could be a nice addition to Wake.

I sometimes wonder why you can't talk to someone else's coach until their season is over in every sport but football.  In football you only need to wait until the regular season is over.  How does this inconsistency originate and persist?  You would think that it would be one way or the other in every sport.

I've often wondered this myself.  I think it's totally ridiculous.  I also think that the coaches who interview while their team still has games to play (bowl game in this case) have an "ethics deficit."  I also know that I'm in a distinct minority here.  In the past I've been called names for expressing such idealistic thoughts.  So have at it guys!  Tell me how I'm not up with the sophisticated modern ways of thought.  Neanderthal really.

I got your back on this one and agree, my oil tending swabbie squid friend.  There is a qualitative difference between doing a job search in business/industry/etc and as a coach whose tools include garnering the emotion and trust of his/her team.  Put me in the dinosaur club along with you.

Thank you, Mr. Army Grunt!  Now, can we hear from the Marines and the Air Force?  If we get enough military support we might win this battle yet!

It's because of the NCAA's lack of oversight when it comes to bowls. Really, as far as the NCAA is concerned, the season is over.

Which is why teams are invited to bowl games, not necessarily granted them.

And unless you are playing for the national championship, for all intents and purposes, the season is over.  Conference champs have been crowned and there are no more titles to play for.

In Winston-Salem
We all said Grobie would fail.
It took thirteen years.

Can't remember seeing a coach with that much tenure resigning tied for the all time wins.

Lembo buyout at around 400k.  Grobe gets 2.2 M to leave.  Interesting situation with the numbers.  What would you personally do? What do you tell your agent

Does Grobe get the buyout, on account of his resigning?

That struck me as curious when I heard it on the radio here in Muncie yesterday morning on the way to work.

Not sure now that I read this thread. Nice to know fanboards are prettymuch the same the world over. http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=192&f=1118&t=12435704&p=1
Some hidden surprises in there....and in the end not sure Lembo is the leading candidate
