Hey guys.

I am a student who is going on the football bowl trip to St. Pete. Does anyone have any suggestions on places to go while there? We get the whole day on the 22nd to roam around and do whatever.

Thanks!!

The beach? The Tampa Bay Rays team shop?

Sensing some smartness in that post, JSF. I know to go to those places... I'm saying places besides those...

If you can get a ride to Tampa, hit Ybor City for the nightlife.  Younger crowd and a lot of variety of venues.

Downtown St. Pete has a young crowd, and a pretty good variety of things to do as well.  The old people stereotype rings very true when you get the beach, though.

See the map I link in the Travel thread. I personally endorse everything on it as a worthwhile visit. You don't need to leave St. Pete to find a good time; St. Petersburg is not the God's Waiting Room it was 25 years ago. And Ybor City is mostly a good place to get mugged or arrested.

Ybor City is not a place I've ever felt comfortable.

I have been to the Dali Museum,  it is not for everyone, but I enjoyed it 10 years ago.

I always enjoy renting a bike or a kayak on vacation, though I have never done it in st petersburg. A bike ride out to the beach, might be fun.

Send some of that warm weather north.

If anyone is willing or able to travel a bit, I'd highly reccomend Frenchy's Rockaway Grill in Clearwater Beach.  One of my favorite sports in Pinellas County to hang out at and enjoy the weather, some sports, and some good food.
