Not saying that at all. Can't you see the distinction here? There's a pretty big difference between having a party in your hotel room to getting tasered in the lobby. Many levels of escalation there.
There's plenty of students that have a good time but are doing so in a responsible manner. Getting arrested can truly ruin your life. Once the police get involved, you're crossing the line. And especially when you're the student body president...you simply don't put yourself in these sort of positions. You can't.
He's now being asked to step down and should do so immediately, IMO. As this story continues to gain legs it is harming the university's reputation significantly. If you don't believe this check the articles online and social media. Only a matter of time before this is picked up by regional and national news. His mugshot doesn't help matters.
