Beefs . . . looked unprepared.

Ohio . . . played very hard but lost to a better team (still would have had a chance to win, except for bonehead penalty).

BG . . . a combination of a fired-up Pitt team and a coach whose only previous HC experience was with a junior high girls basketball team was not a winning one.

NIU . . . apparently the heart of this team was lost after the MACC and the dreams of the Fiesta Bowl.  They played very uninspired ball.

BSU . . . a tale yet to be told.

Disappointing, especially Northern Illinois, the supposed flagship team of the MAC this year.  BG may have won their bowl had their former coach not taken another job the day after winning the MAC Championship.

Worst ever.  Only two of the four teams (BG, Ohio) showed ANY kind of desire to win.  Both NIU and Buffalo still seemed shell-shocked over losses to BG in their last games.  NIU was flat; looked like they expected Utah St to roll over.  Buffalo showed they could live in cold weather but not play in it.  BSU needs to win, or it'll be incredibly embarrassing for the MAC.

$3 million needlessly spent with a very bad ROI.

The MAC is not good. End of story.

There is a HUGE gap between the caliber of Athletes that the MAC produces compared to every other conference (besides the Sun Belt and that can even be debated). I'd like to see MAC schools recruit more out of state players, don't get me wrong the Mid-West develops good football players but they are not nearly the same Athletes the South Region produces. Who cares about the star system we should start taking shots at more no name recruits just look how that worked out for Buffalo (Khalil Mack) and even ourselves (Lavon Brazill).

I share the great disappointment with this year's bowl record.

However, you'd also have to include the CUSA as another conference that isn't much better if better at all overall than the MAC.  They may recruit marginally better, but the past few years the MAC has been just as good or better in Sagarins, etc.  Same with the Sun Belt.  MAC definitely as good as them.

the MAC was 2-5 last year with the only wins coming against Sun Belt teams and that was supposed to be a high water mark year for the conference.

there's too many variables involved in a bowl game to put too much weight into the outcome. It is what it is.
