Do we open the year at Kentucky on September 6? Or do we play 8/30?

This game reflected the year...times of brilliance followed by a big let down.

Agree. Next year is a new era - kind of exciting! I hope it's a positive transition.

Lots of new players, but be careful what you ask for. It will be exciting to see where this thing goes, but I just don't have warm fuzzie feelings right now.

To answer your question the non-conference schedule sets up like this next year.
9/6 at Kentucky
9/13 at Marshall
9/20 Idaho
9/27 Eastern Illinois

I know that a lot of schools open up the week before, so I guess it's a possibility we could open up with a conference game, but It hasn't been done since we opened up with Akron in 2001.  Buffalo, Ball State and Kent all do not have games scheduled on the opening date, granted some of them only have 3 non conference games as of this point.

I'm hoping/expecting a home game against Buffalo in week 1. We've played Ball State too frequently as of late, and week 4 is way too late to wait for our first home game.

We could easily be 1-3 after those 4 games, none of those games are gimmes.  Eastern Illinois gave Northern Illinois all they could handle earlier this year, although Eastern loses their QB Jimmy Garoppolo and they just lost their head coach.

Arkley says he's expecting a MAC East game week 1 as well, I'm thinking our West opponents would be Western Michigan & Northern Illinois, as they're the 2 teams we haven't played in the regular season the longest time...

I can't imagine there won't be any growing pains with a lot of new faces in the starting lineup. Couple that with the fact that many MAC teams, like Akron, are getting better. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 5-7 or 6-6 mark. Maybe, it'll all come together faster and better than we know? Maybe, it won't? The key thing is that we just don't know.

We've expected WMU and NIU for years, but it never happens. MAC loves to give us EMU (which is fine by me!).

My money would be on Ball State and Toledo (totally uneducated guess).
