I wonder if next season's motto is going to be "unfinished business" or "the next step" or something similar.

How 'bout something original like" to the next level"?

In all honesty, I'd say the last five games were pretty "knorresque"

We've been striving for the next level since 1968 - only four years shorter than the Browns have been aspiring to an NFL championship.  I've got our Bobcats at 7 to 5 favorites to beat the Browns to a championship.

BG, NIU, redhawk, CMU, Buffalo, 'kron, Toledo, stupd cow, Ball, EMU.

All have won the MAC title since Ohio last won it.

That makes me sick.
That makes you sick.

Totally unacceptable.

This team improves markedly next year...or something.

Or maybe "Don't sit on the field."

Seriously, Yogi said that 90% of this game is half mental, and that was about 75% of our problems this past season.  Maybe something like "Focus".

Daz's quote was good: “The guys who were playing behind all those guys were really hungry. I feel like we’re ready.”

I thought it was a good article.  Pretty much summed up the year.

Got it, Monroe rolls out the "got to go train." Or some such. Again, have you advised coach Solich of your demands? If we check your Google searches will we see "tar" and "feathers?"

Very accurate assessment Mr. Arkley and Coach Solich.

The reasons the run game struggled are easy to identify. The offensive line was in a state of flux all season as injuries — such as the senior ender to Sam Johnson — knocked four fifth-year projected starters out of the lineup. Complicating matters was the fact that the run game became predictable when QB Tyler Tettleton was a non-factor in the running game. Tettleton had just 43 rushing attempts on the year, and finished with only net 24 yards.

With no quarterback threat to keep defenses honest, and an offensive line dealing with inexperience, the ground game simply didn’t provide enough pop.

“I don’t think we played up to our capability the whole season,” Solich admitted after the bowl loss. “It was a little disheartening there in the middle of the year.”

Lets go Cats 2014.

Daz is a great offensive weapon for us, and we barely used him all season. Granted he was hurt for a bit, but even before that he didn't get many touches. He got a chance in the bowl game and looked great.

Just another data point in the infinite sequence that is the Solich regime's commitment to players/coaches/schemes that don't work.

Is it far-fetched to place some of the blame on "The Safety" at Buffalo? Remember at that point, it was only 7-3, the Bobcat D had been holding its own, and Ohio also got a raw deal with the Waters "fumble"...

To me, that would be making an excuse if one were to say that they lost games after the Buffalo game because of the safety.

All teams have injuries, inexperience and depth issues to overcome.

I hope we don't fall to laying off results to those things.  Those things did not stop AE and the 2006 games, did not stop Kalvin McRae, did not stop the bowl winning teams, etc.

I have wondered over the years reading here just how we compare to most schools with our injury rates and severity. Not sure if anyone has a way to get a good reading on that but we seemingly rack up pretty significant numbers if this board is accurate.

Interesting article posted by WOUB today, The Tettleton era Bobcats were 17-4 before the Sports Illustrated article came out, since then they are 9-10.

maybe you don't even have to be on the cover to get the SI curse.

Minor point, but yes, injuries did stop the 2006 team. They might not have beaten CMU anyway, but AE was badly hobbled with an ankle injury.

I was at that game.  CMU was the better team.  Period.

Their running back (Onterrio Smith ??)  busted off one or two really long runs though we did a fine job of holding LeFevour (spelling?) in check.

There was no shame in losing to a CMU team that had more talent than us.

And, I'd bet, you saw no recriminations, no complaints about not playing up to ability/potential about that 2006 team and that game.

Patterson has the right attitude, no wonder he had a 4.3 GPA in high school.

Patterson, who has the inside track to be the No. 1 RB next spring, said he expects no massive rebuilding project.

“The guys who were playing behind all those guys were really hungry. I feel like we’re ready,” Patterson said. “We’ve been waiting on our chance for a couple years now. Now we’re ready to get out here and make some things happen.”

The wrong attitude would be saying that the reason why much of this stuff going up is because of what we accomplished during the middle of a sub par season, that is affluenza. If Vick, Patterson and others bring their hard hats, I believe we can win the MAC next year.
