This has gone somewhat viral in the CFB community today, and kinda wild that Miami allowed this to posted from their own socials accounts. In what was probably meant to be a routine preseason interview piece, when asked about losing their kicker, Chuck quickly corrected the interviewer that Alabama illegally stole their kicker.

Gotta love the interviewer trying to reel him back in, but then in the full video you see him get the new kicker's name wrong too, salting the wound.

I'm no chuck guy, but if there was tampering (which I assume is what he's indicating I ain't got time to click links) I'm glad he's calling it out. Props to him.

Practically speaking, what's this actually mean? What can Alabama do and what can't they do?

I assume the charge is that Alabama made contact while he was not in the portal?

My feeling exactly. My least favorite MAC coach, but I admire his guts here in sticking it to Alabama in a pubic way.

Dude entered the portal on December 5th and was in the portal until February 20th.

He then withdrew, and re-entered on 4/19. On 4/21 he signed with Bama.

There was a month and a half where any school could legally contact him. It's entirely possible Alabama contacted him during the first window, he got cold feet and withdrew, re-entered and texted Bama himself asking if the offer was still on the table.

Martin probably knows something we don't, and I don't doubt plenty of sketchy things happen. I just doubt there's much that can be done about it.
