Kent State will be bad but not sure they are 133 bad.

We are about where we are on a lot of lists. NIU and BG are worse. Hence, we are 3rd.

This is pretty fair I think given so many unknowns going into the year. Being towards the bottom of D1 is a bit hard to swallow but most of the conference is and I think the placement speaks to the confidence the media has in the coaching staff to do some good things with the roster they pieced together through the portal etc. I know my expectations are pretty modest for this year as I just don't know what to expect with so many new faces. Seems like some solid talent is on campus and time will tell if it can all be put together for success.

FWIW, here's USAT's preseason rerank:

37. Toledo (11-3)
51. OHIO (10-3)
60. MOFO (11-3) (so, they're predicting MOFO in the MACCG, even though Ohio is ranked higher)
100. EMU (6-7)
101. NIU (7-6)
110. BG (7-6)
112. WMU (4-8)
115. CMU (5-7)
123. BSU (4-8)
125. Buffalo (3-9)
131. Akron (2-10)
134. Kent (1-11) (dead last in D1A)

I think we saw this one a few months ago. Toledo and Ohio are massive outliers in this one with respect to about a couple dozen other rankings that I have seen in the interim. The rest aren't that far off although EMU is a little higher than typical. I would take #51 at the end of the season in a heartbeat.
