A few football related projects are popping up on the list that fans on here might find interesting. The athletic academic center is listed as a proposed project and a platform for victory hill (for what purposes I do not know). Could the platform be for TV? A convo scoreboard appears in the mix with a project to conduct structural rigging analysis.

Athletic Academic Center (Feasibility Study in Progress)
Convo Exterior Illumination
Convocation Center Practice Gym
Convo Upgrade Audio, Visual, Lighting & Rigging Analysis
Peden Stadium Endzone Concrete Pad
Peden Stadium Victory Hill Platform
Peden Tower 3rd Floor Patio Renovations
Peden Tower Carin Center Drinking Fountain

A drinking fountain for the Carin Center? Excuse my French but WTH? We have to raise money to replace a water fountain?

Platform for Victory Hill=Platform for new scoreboard on Victory Hill sounds right to me.

Also, Convo practice gym? Like a practice facility? That would be great but that is pretty pricey. Unless the Convo/Peden name rights produce A LOT, that'll take a major fundraising push.

Not just a drinking fountain, but an $11,800 drinking fountain.

This isn't a fundraising link. This is a list of all the projects Facilities has on its timeline. The price of that project will no doubt come from the athletic department's budget.

That said I have no idea why it costs $11,800. Maybe the old fountain leaked and caused damage in the area, requiring fairly significant construction? I don't know any other way it should cost that much.

The platform for Victory Hill is likely to replace the one made from plywood that's falling apart the cameraman uses just the west of the goal posts. That reminds me, a cameraman last year was using a harness and fall protection lanyard hooked to the box. Mind you this box is maybe 3' tall and the harness being used was tied to a 6' lanyard. That math doesn't add up boys and girls.

That's called Big Brother and Government regulation! OSHA!

As for an $11k water fountain, I'm still just shaking my head! Are the teamsters behind this?

They forgot "of youth" part on the end of that. That's the only explanation I have for that price.

Jimmy Hoffa and Jackie Presser aren't involved in water fountains any longer.  That would be the plumbers and pipe fitters union.

Maybe...And I'm not necessarily saying this is a good thing...but the University is in a regulated environment, right?  And, this is may be more than a drinking fountain which a, for instance, supermarket might install.  So, it could be necessary for some design and permitting and letting of a contract and building a bit of infrastructure and post installation inspection/paperwork.  Not saying that this is fun or correct....but in quasi-governmental doings, this probably ain't as easy as 'hey, let's put in a drinking fountain.'

If running water was not part of the original plans in the weight room, it's entirely plausible that would be the price of getting it installed.

But $11K would probably set up a perpetual trust fund for a dispenser unit.

I believe that they used DOD to procure this via the OU ROTC Department!

Maybe they are going to have a more elaborate fountain?

The pricey practice facilities are player development facilities including weight rooms and the Hall of Fame as part of the 15-18 million dollar price tag. Alabama built practice courts only for a price of 2 million. It doesn't sound like Ohio is planning to go fancy here though could use a weight room upgrade. The Carin Center is 10,000 sq.ft though when most MAC weight rooms are in the 5,000 to 8,000 sq.ft range. Northern Illinois has the largest in the MAC at 12,500 sq.ft. Ohio State is at 13,000. Alabama has the largest in the country at 37,000 sq.ft.
