I'm generally a Bobcat Kool-Aid drinker on personnel decisions.  However, I think  that a lot of the current roster issues are a result of his (thankfully) brief tenure as the recruiting coordinator. Is he a good coach who was put in a recruiting role he was not suited for?  I hope he succeeds, but this was the last name I wanted to hear again.

For what it is worth, I always thought Gdowski got a lot of the talent he had available.

That would be my guess. Given that the staff knows him well, I'm sure they would not bring him back if they doubted his ability. He's certainly done well wit the Toledo QB's, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

In Frank I trust. This is a good job and carries the Assistant Coordinator title and salary. We have had good success on the field the past few years and we have good QB prospects in the pipeline. So we could have done a search and found other candidates but Isphording is a known entity. I think it is a win/win for our program and Isphording.
Think about how much better the situation as QB coach is today versus when Frank and Gdawoski  came to town and they had to go find T3.

You know with a new guy coming in fresh, everyone gets a restart even in his eyes. Dylan Leffingwell might just jump up. His bio is a great read. Not saying Vick's job is in jeopardy, but, behind him.

The following from the University release on his hire. This changes some of my impressions of him.

"During his four-year stint with the Rockets, Isphording helped guide Toledo to 24 wins, three bowl games, the 2011 Military Bowl title and a 2011 Mid-American Conference West Co-Championship title. In his two seasons as the program's recruiting coordinator, he helped the Rockets earn the MAC's top recruiting class in both 2012 and 2013, according to Rivals.com and Scout.com. Scout.com also selected Isphording as the MAC Recruiter of the Year."

By the way, Toledo is replacing both coordinators, the RB and WR coaches.

I welcome any change to the leadership of Ohio's offensive attack.

Brief appearance for factual honesty/truth and critical thinking above elementary school level.

Toledo won 8 in 2010, 9 in each of 2011 and 2012 and 7 in 2013--so 33 over last 4 years.  No MAC titles.

If Toledo had top MAC recruiting classes in 2012, 2013, why'd they let him go?
Rockets adjusting to circumstances/expectations given only 7 wins last year and no MAC title?

Will rigid coaching change given our seeming fine recruits?  What kept it from changing last two years in face of MAC blowouts?

If you think Frank's very breath is gold, is it changing opinion to more favor this hire now?
Note refusal to to answer question re apparent affiliation with University or Athletics.

I hope that this works. We desperately need to see if MAC title will help re the donor hole.

I don't think they let him go. So far as I know Ohio just hired him away with a better offer, making him co-Offensive coordinator, rather than just QB coach. I suspect that meant a higher pay grade.

Could be.  But often cited here for 2010 recruiting deficit and, if he was aces twice in a row, wouldn't you do much to keep him?

Not saying I'm right; merely looking for all-reasonable-possibs consideration, which certain poster will not even consider.

Toledo has also recently hired for the DC, RB and WR coaching positions.

The seniors of football season 2013 will graduate with the most wins accumulated by any class in Ohio history. Is the situation really "desperate?"

Thanks for the deliberate, purposeful misinterp of what I said.  As usual.

How about this.  PLEASE STATE YOUR AFFILIATION OR NOT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OR ATHLETICS.  You can't miss that question.  Of course, being of less than stellar integrity, you won't answer it, as usual.

Can't speak for Bcat2, but I"ve got an affiliation with the university AND athletics: I'm a graduate of Ohio University (HTC, '05)  and a season ticket holder. I'd also like to make a humble request regarding your above bolded question (that you've asked incessantly DESPITE THE FACT IT IS NONE OF YOUR BLEEPING BUSINESS):

QUIT BEATING THIS DEAD HORSE! HELLO MR. HORSEY! TESTING TESTING TESTING!!! THIS IS YOUR WAKE UP CALL! THIS HORSE IS NO MORE! IT HAS CEASED TO BE! THIS IS AN EX-HORSE!!

Anyone else see this hire as a de facto demotion for Tim Albin?

Don't know it for a fact, but the thought crossed my mind that that might be a possibility.  If so, X-UTM plays might be less frequent and innovative use of the QB might be on the uptick.

Isn't he just replacing Gdowksi as #2 guy in the OC pecking order?

I expect to see changes as so many offensive starters graduate. The staff has always gone to the strengths of their athlete and new group, new strengths. However they set up I expect to see a balanced offense. I am hoping the new backs behind a new line can handle the running straight up without Mr. Vick getting too involved.

He's not #2 guy…he's "co-offensive coordinator."

That was Gdowski's title as well. In the end it's all about how the working relationship evolves more than the title, though the title affects the pay rate.
