Less than a week away from our football methadone hit, and I'm starting to drink the green Kool-Aid. Fingers crossed that the weather is nice...a beautiful spring day in Athens with a few beers will be a great way to officially put this winter behind us.

Does anyone know if we're actually getting a full spring game, or are we doing the modified scrimmage like last year?

ESPN won't be broadcasting the game live, but it will be broadcast on Power 105.

Normally I provide my 2 cents.

I will be in Athens......will attend the spring sale.....headin up town after the sale....will try to make it back for the game.........but I've  been in a reticent mood.

This has no credibility, Doc.  I'd sooner believe the John St. Helen was really John Wilkes Booth!

Parking will be a mess as Kids Fest is going on. Entire Convo lot is closed and 3,000 kids will have there parents all over the Peden lot.

No offensive touchdowns in the game. A pick-six by walk-on Chad Moore, brother of Keith. Four interceptions total, two each by Vick and Sprague.

I'd have been shocked/worried if the defense hadn't ruled this game. Now I can worry a little about the offense, but know that the defense is what I was hoping it would be. Judging from the comments on the Spring videos, the defense has been pretty pumped all Spring.

I made it.

Bought my season tickets.

Defense of course did dominate.

A couple of predictions.

Wyatt or Reid or both will make the 6 man WR rotation. Dixon and Sawyer also looked good.

Sprague will push Vick for QB pt.

My buddies only had one comment......Ohio has some big guys ....the TE's are huge.(

Not too worried about the offense they will get better. Summer conditioning and 7on7 will help those guys before fall camp. Also maybe our defense is pretty good no reason to worry about this young team.

Who looked good at RB and WR? Any individuals stand out? Any injuries?

Brown looked quick at RB.

I liked Wyatt at WR.

Agreed. Of all the offensive players, Brown was the one that impressed me the most.

Don't count Joey D. out at QB just yet...we may all be surprised.
The fact that Darius was not named the starter is very telling.

What type of plays did the O run?  Hurry up?  QB keepers often?  Did the coaches play four deep at QB?  With some new offensive minds on the staff, was there any noticeable style differences that are worth reporting?

Was wondering the same thing. Were we back in the pistol? Did the QB's keep it more as they did a couple years ago? Also, how did the OL and running game look? As for the int's were they pure picks off passes or tips/deflections and picks? Did Vick get the first reps at QB?

Yes.

Yes.

Better than I expected.

Seemed to be pure picks.

Vick started. He and Sprague had the most pt. Didn't seem to be too much difference. Both ran the ball well.

The OL was somewhat porous but effort and size were there. The defense just swarmed. Kendrick Smith looked real quick. D-backs also looked decent. Brown stood out at RB.

There seemed to be more yelling and enthusiasm. It looks like there will be lots of fighting for pt. Nothing would surprise me in that regard.

I'm not surprised, but I'm glad to hear it. I sensed that from the videos, too. Last year's team seemed to have "quiet confidence". They seemed to take it for granted that they would be good. After a healthy dose of reality last year, I have been hoping for a resurgence of hunger" and enthusiasm, plus a re-dedication to the Solich approach of "believe" and "relentless".

One of these QB's has to show they can effectively throw the ball downfield. Looking back, our offense was at its best with guys like Brazil and McCrae stretching the field. I know Vick and Sprague can run around pretty well, but does either one have the arm? We obviously need to see more but I'm a little concerned with the early returns.
