Day 1 - McQueen, Ingol, Solich on facility, winter conditioning
Day 2 - Solich pleased with the new coaches, player talent level (though young), Daz on new camaraderie and on being a leader
Day 3 - Crutcher on having the pads on, facility, and on being a leader
Some great interviews here. It sounds like the players are relaxed and getting along, and they are a team. They look lean and fit, and ready to play.
Day 4 - Kristoff, Basham, and Solich talk about the improved attitude, higher energy/intensity levels this year. Solich says he's really pleased with the 4 practices so far
Day 7 - Nothing about the practice, but a nice interview of Chris Rodgers, the former TE/LT that replaced Jason Grooms. He comes off very well, and I think he'll do a great job.
Day 8 - Interviews with new coaches Isphording and Johnson
Scrimmage 2 - Interviews with Cochran and Cam WIlson, talking about Wilson making plays, and about the players really flying around and hitting this Spring, and the desire to turn potential into achievement.
Day 10 - Interviews with Jimmy Burrow and Ben Russell, talking about the defense being more aggressive. I was surprised to see what appears to be a visible seam in the carpet behind Burrow at the 1:39 mark.
Day 11 - Interviews with the new Jucos - Bonnstetter (P) and Boland (TE)
Spring Practice Update - One week to go. Interviews with Burrow and Vick, plus there's lots of action in the background, and you can see a lot of busy people working hard. I note a few people have new numbers. Sprague is now #3 rather than 18, and some defensive lineman is wearing #89.
Day 13 - Offensive line - Interviews with Troy Watson and Mike McQueen, talking about goals for the Spring, becoming leaders, and on the new intensity under the new coach.
Set for Spring Game - Interviews with Solich, Vick, and Kristoff. Defense had tremendous energy this Spring, but because of the harsh winter, QB's and receivers came in behind where Solich would like to see them, but that will never happen again.
and last of them all:
Defense Shines in Spring Game - Interviews with Vick, Sprague, Basham and Solich. Solich looks pretty pumped. Add that to this
pre-game article from Arkley, which has some great quotes from the coaches:
Solich:"This was probably the most energy that has been shown in a camp that I've seen in a long, long time. That was really a plus."
Burrow: "We were worried (7 a.m. practices) would be sleepy and kind of blah, but it was totally the opposite. They were energized"
Albin: ""This has been the best spring I've ever been a part of, as far as a team effort, of guys wanting to work to get better. And this is my 25th year of coaching. I'm really excited about the hunger of this football team."
I know I'm revising upward my expectations for fall. The team last year lacked energy, but that problem won't happen again this year. They may lack experience, but I'll take energy and athletic ability. There is a lot of work to be done between now and fall, but I am looking forward to the Kent game already.
