Its a shame LaVon is an exceptional person and anyone that knows him will attest. Cant wrap my head around this marijuana issue though. Too bad he doesnt own a team he could smoke crack and pop Oxy's til his hearts content

I will attest to what you say.  He is an exceptionally nice guy.  However, as I know from some experience in my family, nice guys can be addicts, and despite what some will say, you can become addict to marijuana.  There can be an argument whether it is a physical or a psychological addiction, but it is an addiction nonetheless.  This is not saying that everyone who uses weed becomes addicted to, just like not everyone who has a glass of wine or beer becomes addicted, but certain people do.  It's a real shame that LaVon appears to be one of those people.

This might be one of the dumbest posts I've ever read.  Let's see - if I have money I can rape, plunder and pillage.  Of course you're kidding, right?

Job depends on staying clean. Job also provides very good money and status. However, chooses to become a 3 time loser. Hope he doesn't move to Florida, they want to test everything.

Many Colts fans preferred Griff Whalen over Lavon.  Whalen who is from Sylvania, Ohio played with Andrew Luck at Stanford. http://www.colts.com/team/roster/griff-whalen/754d0685-385b-42ff-a6fb-d08d308568e5/

Lavon was a good role player, but I imagine his NFL career will not survive an entire year off.

I think OCF is spot on. LaVon is a great guy. He loves football, he still supports OU and he's worked extremely hard to get where he is, but he's got an addiction that apparently he so far hasn't been able to overcome.

He could always just go to play in Colorado or Washington.

Guess he has not hit his bottom yet. So far it has all been good. This case tells me there must still be a drug culture in the NFL. That's a shame. No pity for him here. Choices. We are who we hang with.

Reread your post and that should qualify as the dumbest by a WIDE margin.

Yes there is a double standard.  Basketball has shown that owners may be forced to sell for not maintaining expected behavior. I would call for the same suspensions or banning for owners that players receive.

Another angle, from Jim Trotter.

Not surprising they released him .... I hope he doesn't spiral further downward. To throw away an NFL career, as he seems to have done, is mind boggling. The life of an NFL player is maybe 5 years. If he wants to get high why not make your $$$ and then get high in your late 20's. So he just pissed $570K away for 2014.
